Ms. Abrim had been teaching for a long time. Training young warriors, or any form a teaching, comes with the possibility of getting what is known to instructors as the 'problem child'. There always was at least one in every class.
The resident problem child of Ms. Abrim's class was Clarisse Afier.
Simply put, she was an overachiever. She would always go above and beyond to prove herself. Which was nice, Ms. Abrim did appreciate that Clarisse was so engaged in her studies.
But while her heart was in the right place, sometimes in the midst of trying to do her best, she forgets the guidelines of the assignment.
Such as right now. As she flew into the centre of the school courtyard with three, seemingly unconscious individuals.
If her partner was immobilized or knocked out during a fight, it would have been understandable why she had too carry them back, but the fact of the matter was they were only supposed to retrieve the pendants and avoid fighting if possible.
Those were the only two rules.
But, Clarisse being Clarisse thought it was a good idea to bring back one of the Holders for whatever reason. Regardless of the reasoning, retrieving anything other than the pendants was a violation of the regulations that came with the assignment.
Ms. Abrim wasn't even sure who the third person was. They could have another Holder, seeing as there were supposed to be two on the truck, but she doubted it. In fact, the person looked like a offlander. The were wearing traditional offlander attire, the only thing that didn't scream 'I don't belong in Aelphai' was the fact that they were wearing the snake pendant Clarisse and Drake were meant to retrieve.
As soon as Clarisse's feet, or paws, as she was currently in tiger form, touched the ground, she collapsed in, presumed, exhaustion. She switched back to her fully human form as she was now passed out.
No one really knew what to do. Everyone in the courtyard, students and teachers alike, stared at Clarisse in a mix of confusion and curiosity. Even though many were curious, no one moved to do anything.
Ms. Abrim broke out of her frozen state when she realized Clarisse had been wearing more than one pendant.
She sighed, strode over to Clarisse, crouched down, and removed the parakeet pendant from the silver chain it was clipped to.
Ms. Abrim moved to remove the snake pendant from the offlander, still curious as to how it got on their neck in the first place, but she noticed that the clip that should be attached to the pendant was missing. She examined the chain and, once again, found no clip.
Meaning that there was no way to take off the pendant.
Ms. Abrim looked back towards Clarisse's sleeping figure, wondering what had happened during this training exercise.
Ms. Abrim stood up and turned towards the rest of her students.
"Let's all take a break from training for awhile. Go back to the classroom and wait for me."
She turned towards the T.A.
"Melony, make sure everyone gets there."
Melony nodded and led the students, who were now talking amongst themselves, though the hallways and towards the classroom.
Ms. Abrim turned back to the scene. She noticed that Drake was still conscious. Well mostly. He looked dazed and ready to fall asleep any second.
She crouched back down and looked towards Drake.
"Are you awake enough to speak?"
Drake cleared his throat before he spoke.
"N-Not long enough t-to give a re-report."
His stuttering didn't seem to be out of nervousness. More like he was trying to recall how to pronounce the words.
"I wa-was poisoned d-during the fi-fight."
A sense of urgency overtook her as she stood up once again.
"Stay here and keep conscious for a little longer. I'll be back with the nurse."
