"Departed Soul" is a piece that Bai Zhihua had started composing many years ago and had never completed, despite the on-and-off effort over the years. It is the longest-spanning piece and also the one she found most challenging.

"Departed Soul" seems even more mystical. After listening to it, Shen Fu felt as if his soul had left his body, as if he was no longer in control of himself - and that was just the effect of the unfinished piece.
Bai Zhihua's inspiration came quickly and left just as fast. Once it had passed, she was left with half a score, added to the previous half - "Departed Soul" was complete!
