Chapter 1 - moving to crimson city

A cat was walking down the street while watching out for broken glass. He had to hurry to his home because the sun was setting and soon the streets would get busy. At night, a lot of humans and creatures roamed around the streets and he could get stepped on. The cat passed by an alley way and smelled the trash that accumulated near the walls. As the sun was quite low, the alley way was very shadowy. The cat heard a suspicious noise and paused, turning it's head to the alleyway. There stood a monster, It was an ugly mass of human skin and limbs sewed together. From the wounds between the patches of skin, a liquid wearing a pungent smell was slowly leaking, sometimes forming yellow scabs. It seemed obese and it's head was fusing with the rest of it's body. The monster looked at the cat and made a low groaning sound. The cat immediately tried running away, but somehow the monster was as fast as lightning and it's long arm grabbed the cat by it's neck.

The young man looked at the ground. The half eaten corpse of a cat was laying there. He looked at it with a disgusted face.

-"What kind of idiot would eat a street cat? Nasty. They really had to leave it right by my door. Whatever, something will finish eating it one day or another." He said aloud while commenting in his head.

The young man with short grey hair pushed open a door and entered.

Seth looked at his father, not believing what he just announced. His father had told him to come sit in front of him because he had to say something important, but he would have never guessed what it was. Seconds passed by as he still didn't answer, not really sure if it was a joke or not.

His dad sighed seeing his inevitable reaction. He did just tell him that they'd move to crimson town, a place he despised. A place who was also very dangerous.

-Dad, are you making a tasteless joke or are you being serious? I remember you said that place was hell.

-I'm serious. This is punishment for the fight you had again, not a joking matter.

Seth's face crumpled.

-I thought you said you were on my side this time!

-I was on your side until I saw your victim's face. Seth, know that I am not mad at you. But this is a sign, and I'm not going to ignore it. I was going to send you there sooner or later anyway.

-His face? ! it's not even that bad! And, please do tell me, how in hell will sending me to a city filled with criminals, help me with my violence problem?

His father stayed quiet and just shook his head with his eyes closed.

-This is not about something as simple as anger issues or anything alike.

-What? Then why'd you say it was because of-

-You're eating spaghetti tonight.

Seth looked at his father with a blank face. How childish! His father knew he hated eating spaghetti and he had eaten some two weeks ago, usually he ate some every two months. So to punish him, he decided to settle it as dinner.

-Seriously? I ate some two weeks ago!

-I want to eat fish right now, there's no helping it. So unless you want to eat the same thing as me, you're eating spaghetti tonight.

Seth sighed.

-Anyway, you didn't seem to hate my spaghetti last time. I think you're beginning to like it.

As he said that, his father looked sad.

-What? Why do you look so sad? Don't tell me you actually enjoy seeing me suffering while eating spaghetti...

His father breathed deeply and then smirked.

-That's exactly it.

Seth was finishing putting his last belongings in a box before going.

They had had woken up very early to be able to pack everything so that they could unpack and install everything before night.

The trip to crimson city was four hours long. That place was big and very commercial even though it was isolated by the forests surrounding it. His father's friend would help with his truck to move everything. They didn't have much, so it helped.

He sighed while looking at a picture of him in his father's arms when he was only 10. That was seven years ago. He never met his mother because she disappeared two months after his birth. He didn't have any pictures of her and his father never spoke about her. He didn't have a single clue about what kind of person she was.

-Seth! We're going!

his father yelled from across the small apartment.

-I know! And I'm not deaf so don't shout.

He went outside with his last box.

Seth looked around. He could not believe he would regret having to move from this place.

He never liked it here, everyone was dumb, stubborn and egocentric. Not to mention fake. But at least it was a safe and peaceful neighborhood. Now, he was about to move to one of the most unsafe and dangerous place. And nothing told him that the people would be better over there.
