Chapter 2 - Chapter Two

The earth gave way, shaking an breaking up. Lava spilled up an out from the cracks. Hurricanes hit mainland, tsunamis and whatnot. All around the world, terrible disasters were occurring.

In a space station above the earth, the projections of various world leaders were engaged in a heated conversation.

"I told you we should have listened to the Oracle! If we did, we wouldn't be having all these issues. We could have avoided it. We 'befriend' an Oracle, not lock it up and treat it like a slave!" One of the projections slammed its projected arm on the table. This world leader was part of the faction that advocated for befriending the Oracle when it first appeared. Unfortunately, his faction was the minority group and wasn't able to get the upper hand in voting.

"Even if we did that, so what? What can we do about all this?" Someone else retorted, waving his arm. A projection of on goings in the world flashed over the table. The faces of the leaders all contorted. No matter how detached they might be from the masses, they couldn't help but get flustered seeing their planet getting torn up.

"It doesn't matter much now. What's done is done. I've built disaster relief shelters all around the world. We'll try our best to transport the survivors to each shelter. We don't have much time to waste. Every second counts." At the head of the table which the projections were seated around, a calm man with deep seated dark bags under his eyes looked around, connecting his gaze with all the other leaders around the table. "Did we manage to track down the other Oracle? It can help us... We just need to be careful."

"Humph! It disappeared as soon as all this started. Chances are, it's dead." The first speaker spoke up again. His attitude was as spiky as ever.

"Very well... Good luck." The projection at the head of the table flickered and went off. The remaining projections flickered one by one, before going offline. Each of them were busy making preparations an giving their subordinates instructions before they would retreat to their Cryo-sleep chamber.

........

While chaos was making its rounds on planet Earth, in the void between worlds, a darkness was brewing...

"My lord, everything is falling into place. When do we launch the final strike?" Wrapped in darkness, a pair of eyes stared from within the shadows at its Lord, seated on a throne. This 'Lord' was clad in red armor, with swirling black patterns. The armor had gaps on its knees and elbows, along with on the head.

Fire flowed out from these gaps, twisting and turning like unsettled souls. On the head piece, there were no openings for a mouth, or nose. Just two eerie holes where two glowing amber eyes stared into the void. Above these eyes were twisted metal horns adorning its head.

Its head swiveled, turning to regard its servant, "I am aware... We will not be striking yet. Send down an Oracle. Let them have a taste of power beyond their means... Give them time to grasp that power; Let them fight a futile battle, and when they think they have grasped that power, find me a suitable vessel to descend upon." An ethereal voice echoed around the hall. The shadows all quivered, acknowledging their master's will. They swirled, turning into silent but violent storms.

At once, several servants of Destruction set out to do their master's bidding.

.............

A soft pull tugged at his mind, rousing him from his deep slumber. All he could see was darkness, a deep, endless darkness that could swallow everything. He reached out, feeling around. At the end of his vision, a tiny white dot appeared. That white dot rapidly grew larger, until it completely swallowed him and all he could see was white.

A low buzz stung his eardrums. Dorian's mind felt stuffed full with cotton as he pulled open his eyes. A sharp headache pounded beneath his eyes as he looked up. The exquisite silver metallic alloy of his Cryo-sleep Capsule greeted him.

Dorian rubbed his forehead as he recalled what happened before he lost consciousness. He remembered being drugged by his had and his eyes shot open, only for him to squeeze them shut the next moment.

He reopened them a while after, craning his neck from side to side, taking in the dull glow of the capsule. His repeatedly pressed the button to open up the capsule, but the only response he got a the sound of jamming gears. A little confused, he pulled open a panel to manually open the capsule. Pulling on the lever, the cover of the capsule shot off, slamming into the low ceiling of the building.

'Low ceiling? Since when did we have a tiny basement?' Kai's head worked to clear up all the fog in his head as his vision cleared up. What he saw wasn't what he was expecting at all.

Stacks of rubble, barely being supported by the metal pillars over the capsule hung low. His head swiveled, looking around the nearly demolished building in shock.

'What the hell happened?!' He was just about to search for a way out when a projection shot up and flickered beside the capsule he had woken up from. Taking a good look at the projection, Dorian recognized it to be his father, only that he had suddenly aged a few years!

"Ah Dorian, you must be awake!" The projection exclaimed. Joy filled Dorian's heart at first, until that joy was shattered by the next few words. "Well, you should be, or else this won't be playing. Anyway, I'll cut to the chase." His eyes scanned around, as though he could see around the deteriorated room.

"You must be wondering what happened... Why I sedated you and put you to sleep in a Cryo-sleep capsule. I'll explain it all in a few minutes." He rubbed the little stubble on his chin. "It's simple really - The world ended."
