Chapter 20 - FEAR

At all costs, Julien did not want to admit that he did that kind of thing. He scolded himself for this senseless frustration. His head was not functioning properly during the heat cycle and it will not change in the future. Fortunately, Lucius was not interested in him either and surely will not care about the kissing situation. He saved in memory to tell Ioan to write to Lucius a note with an apology and a promise of compensation.

Julien put his hands in the pocket of the leather jacket and took a deep breath. He walked among tall buildings and strolled through the busy streets in the heart of the city, trying to control his annoyance. Leaves on the trees were already starting to change colors. It was around five o'clock, and the sun was slowly moving towards the west, leaving pink streaks in the sky.

Julien finally entered the pharmacy. There was an enormous line inside. The old grannies would come here for medication like for fresh bakery rolls. He thought that nothing had changed and people were the same wherever he transmigrates.

He stood at the end of the line looking around at the goods displayed on the shelves. Julien's eyes caught the most expensive supplements that were promising long life and to cure every disease. He gave an exaggerated sigh and rolled his eyes.

The line moved at a slow pace. Some retirees forgot their prescriptions and others couldn't decide what they exactly came for. When it finally came Julien's turn, he walked over to the cash register and leaned against the counter.

He pointed with his chin at the display: "Five packs of omega's suppressants and a set of this pro life vitamins, please."

The young pharmacist hurriedly packed his order and finalized the card transaction.

The visit in the pharmacy cost him over three hundred yuans. Julien slung the plastic bag over his hand and put them into his pocket.

[System: Are you not going to listen to the doctor? Five packs seems too much for me.]

Julien again rolled his eyes: "That's for you. As in life it is impossible to be fully prepared for battle so I will keep my medicine close and keep moving."

When he came out of the pharmacy it was almost completely dark outside, but despite this streets were bursting with excitement. The cars were crammed on the road like rats in the garbage can.

Because of traffic Julien stood idle waiting for the right moment to wave for the cab. He secretly observed a very cute boy who carried a school bag on his back and was unconsciously being squeezed by the stream of people into the outer periphery of the sidewalk.

Julien caught sight of a pure black, seemingly low-key luxury car that was formerly driving perfectly straight at the boy who unintentionally went out into the street.

There was a scream from the crowd who also saw it, but it might be because of that the little boy was scared silly. He stood there frozen in place. Julien could only foolishly watch as the light of the car came closer and closer…

[System: Host, be careful!]

At this moment, the little boy suddenly felt himself being embraced from behind by a somewhat warm arm. The person who was hugging him threw himself and rolled over several times while holding him, far away from the place he was just at. Then, a pair of warm hands covered the little boy's eyes, firmly blocking his panicked line of sight.

The moment they left that place, the luxury car immediately slowed down passing the previous location. It's not difficult to imagine that if they didn't escape in time, the consequences would certainly be too dreadful to contemplate.

After taking the little boy away, Julien breathed a long sigh of relief. Fortunately, they are alive and safe.

Although the roll was very awkward, Julien always cautiously protected the boy's head. He bore the full impact. Perhaps the position of the rolling was incorrect, over there they had just escaped from the jaws of death and over here, Julien kept rolling and rolling. His back collided against the roadside fence with a "boom".

Julien momentarily couldn't hold back the tumult in his chest. He was so scared and thought he might die again.

The little boy in Julien's embrace was muddled. When he came back to his senses, he felt that the person behind him was badly shaking, but the hand on his back was still gently soothing him. Unconsciously, the scared little boy held onto Julien's clothes tightly and slowly found a little sense of security. He struggled to raise his hand and patted Julien's back.

On the contrary Julien couldn't help it, he buried his head at the boy's shoulder and started to cry: "Wooho…"

The little boy opened his eyes wide and his childish face was solemn: "It's okay. It's okay."

Julien shook his head and hugged him tighter and cried while saying: "Hiccup, die, again hiccup, don't want."

The negative emotions in his heart seemed to find a breakthrough. Julien was crying pitifully.

One big figure and one small figure snuggled together. Even though that scene just now was extremely dangerous, but now looking up, people around felt a touch of warmth.
