Chapter 34 - Money comes and goes

"Argh, my back." Bob yelled up as he was thrown against a tree. "Rachel are you okay?"

He looked around. His eyes quickly fixed into a direction, but it was not his partner that he saw, but an unbelievable fight exchange.

He saw the Chinese blur sliding towards the edge of a cliff. The red and black stripped bear jumped towards its prey, not leaving any chance for retreat. To Bob's surprise though, the fighter widened her embrace and just fell backwards. Letting the bear jumped over its prey it followed suit, dragged by gravity.

"C-Crazy" Bob mumbled, his jaw dropping. The ground slightly vibrated, indicating that the massive bear had met the ground unpleasantly.

"I'm here, au…" Rachel climbed out of a hedge while covering the wound on her face. "I hope it was all worth it. My cheek is burned and hurts like hell." Her symmetrical face was ruined and warm blood left her mouth.

"Don't worry. Both must have met their end when they jumped of the cliff. Huff." He moaned like an old man troubled by his back.

The hunters-duo walked down the edge of the cliff and arrived at the drop spot 5 minutes later. A small crater enveloped the bear in its blood.

"Urgh." Rachel could not withstand the engrossment and puked. Added on to that, her face only hurt more from emptying her stomach. "The reality of this game is just unbearable at this point."

"Huh, where is the other one?" Bob was surprised for a moment as he only found his sword split in two.

"See I told you it was a player. He or she must have vanished after dying. Hah. I can already imagine her crying and cursing us to death. Look, there is lots of loot lying around. We hit the jackpot."

"Not only that." Bob pointed at a long crack in the wall as gas was rolling down from it. "I bet there is a treasure inside the wall, why else would it do that."

He walked to the wall and picked up the pointy half of the sword. He wanted to use the tip to break down the wall, but shrieked up in surprise. "Fuck! Why is the blade so cold? I barely picked it up and my fingers already shaking. Hey Rachel, get the other half of the sword over there and help me."

"OK" His partner replied.

Bob turned back towards the crack and tried to open it with his hands. This treasure belonged to him and no one else. He fumbling for a long time only to find out that the crack was as cold as the sword tip.

"Hey Rachel what is taking you so long?" Bob turned around in anger. Was his partner in crime taking a nap?

His eyes widened in shock as he turned around. His eyes didn't even reach their limit before blood gushed out of his head. The only thing he saw was a phantom standing behind Rachels dead body and the requested other half of the sword, greeting his head like a sword sheet.

"Phou, not even a day outside the village passed and players already want me dead." Luo Si walked around the scene. She looked at the tattered herbs. "Sigh* At least I've got the bear."

The lianas had snapped at the sudden abrupt saving.

She whipped the bloodstain from the side of her mouth with shaking hands. She needed to use all her might and reinforce the sword with everything she had to stop her fall, experiencing a painful backlash. Sadly, even the sword split in two.

"I certainly need to fix this problem."

Howl*

'Let's pack things up and go, or else more uninvited guests will appear.'

Predator sounds could be heard and dawned her to return. The bear corpse left a green trail as it was dragged to the village.

Cling*

The 'hot goods' shop door opened and hit a bell.

"Is this the exchange store?" A feminine yet joyless voice entered.

"Yeah, yeah." The shop owner replied absentminded from the door behind the counter. "Just put the goods at the table. And don't make a mess."

Bang*

The counter-table bend down as a heavy object was put on it.

"Hey! What did I just say? Huh-!" A tanned muscle-head came out of the door, patted in a layer of dust. He stopped in shock. Not knowing if it was because of the monstrously disfigured bear on his counter or the young in blood drenched girl next to it.

"Do you also accept damaged goods?" the opposite asked.

"Uh, yes~." He said in daze as Luo Si emptied her bags out. It had not been to hard to mend the bags back together and save what could be saved.

"2 rippled sun laurels… worth 10 silver."

"A cooper skinned snake… worth 50."

"2 five-foot white horn rabbits… worth 75 silver, each."

"A five… FIVE leaf Wosie!... worth 500 silver my god it's already hard to find 4 leaves, but this is a natural five."

"A mature fire coal bear… usually worth 2500 silver, but regarding the damage... I will give you 2 gold."

The shopkeeper handed over a pouch containing 5 gold and 875 silver. The sum of money was asounding for any female villager, yet the girl did not break out in euphory.

Luo Si put the heavy pouch inside the bag, while pouting over the lost goods, fearing that it would rip under its own weight and left for the pharmacy.

Yi*

The entrance door squeaked up a rich fragrancy following up until it was blocked by a faul stench.

"Aww, can't you make an exception for me. I think that beautiful flower really suits me. And I would take it as a pleasant gift from you." A familiar voice entered Luo Si's ears.

It was Min Pi She, making a young employee weak and abashed, while fiddling with an exotic herb between her fingers. "O-Of course, this flower suits you perfectly. Just take it. It's just 500 silver. Nothing to talk about with our village gem."

The smile on her face however, instantly vanished. Thousands of different scents and stenches assaulted her nostrils, contorting her well practiced expression.

The young admirer, trained in the arts of smelling, immediatly found the source of their demise. "Hey you, if you are just standing there, you can leave the store as well and make place for real clients." He glared at Luo Si. The attende was a simple man. Spending a moment with Min Pi She was all he dreamed of.

Luo Si ignored the late teenager and flipped through a catalog on the counter. Every page showed 2 items and the price on one side with a scribbled description on the other. 'This makes things easier.'

3 minutes later she looked back up. "I will take 3 yin-yang powder packs, a perfectly intact silver moon leaf, a soft moswow stone and 4 violent thorn buds. If you have 100-year-old blood bamboos, I will take them as well." Thanks to Mirror Mind it made saving the information and calculating the price much easier.

"Insolent! How dare you think you could even afford one of these ingredients. One yin-yang pack alone costs 300 silver. Don't think you relentless souls can just take what you want." Enraged by the newcomer's behavior the pharmacies apprentice hollered.

People around her had started to stare disdainful at her as well. The dirtied and bloodstained clothes made her anything but pleasing to the eye and nose.

"Simp, you do not even qualified to take on such order." Luo Si pulled back the sleve covering the imprint. The apprentice apalled, identifying the noble crest.

"Hmph, you are just a lowly slave. Don't think the likes of you can act rude in here." Pi She had an arrogant look on her face but retreated a step after being caught of guard by an overbearing aura spreading through the shop.

"Lute, what the hell is going on. Can't I just leave the counter to you for one hour?" A white bearded small old man came from behind. His face was scratched and entangled in a vine, but his voice was loud and clear.

"NO SIR! It's this rude beggar, that thinks she can take whatever she wants." Lute, the servant pointed at Luo Si.

Boom* Climper*

A heavy sack fell to her feet and slightly opened up. Shining in gold and silver the coins made Lute's face pale and shut him up. "I just wanted to relieve myself of this heavy burden, but if this pharmacy does not value its clients, I don't think it is necessary to stay any longer."

"WAIT!" The old man threw himself with all his might in front of the exit. "Young Miss, my servant did not see mount tai. Please forgive his insolence. LUTE! KNEEL TO HER FOR FORGIVENESS!"

Lute was shocked by his master's order, but did as ordered. "Please forgive this servant's rudeness and show your magnanimous mercy."

Luo Si did not care about the kneeling servant and looked at the old man.

"Miss, this is not a place to talk about big business. Please follow me." Both walked into an office and shut the door, leaving a puzzled crowed behind. Pi She was not better and stomped off, the flower stem quenched in her hand.

"3 Packs yin yang, …and two 100-year-old blood bamboos. All together 6 gold and 55 silver. Since this is a transaction over 5 gold, you will get 10% off, reducing the prize to 5 gold and 444 silver."

Lou Si remained unmoved and cold eying. Sweat appeared on the old man's forehead. "I mean 15%. The 5% are a compensation for my disciplines arrogance."

"Good." Her eyes blinked and she put the money bag on the table. She left with a lighter but bigger bag.

The pharmacy shop owner whipped away some cold beads of sweat, nearly having missed out on a big deal.. "Lute, 4 months unpaid. And where is the yellow flame rose?"

"Urgh, I gave it to Miss Pi She."

"… 6 months unpaid."
