Aurora's POV
I stay close to Liza as she takes another step toward the god, sword limp in her hand and her body was tense. Her face hard as stone but I could see the emotions raging behind bright blue eyes. The air was filled with dark magic, the feel was like knives dragging along on my skin. Whatever this god was doing he was using a lot of power and it may very well backfire on him.
"This isn't going to end the way you want Hades," Liza says in a small voice.
The god barks a laugh. "It already is darling," he gestures to the circle he stands in. "This spell will bring the gods down to this plane."
I could see the dark ring rising around Hades and the circle. It pulsed with energy just threatening to break out. "You never really done a spell like this have you?"
I asked this still eyeing the circle as Izzy glared daggers at the god and paced him with a limp grip on her weapon. He doesn't move but drags his dead eyes to me. "The spell will work fine." He spits eyeing me. "What the hell are you even doing here beast? Shouldn't you be out there with the rest of your brothers and sisters; killing, feeding, being the monsters you are?"
The insult doesn't bother me but Izzy growls and jumps out to attack Hades while his back is turned. I'm surprised how fast she is moving it was nothing like how she fought in the training room, mind you; she was drunk. Sparks fly from her weapons and hands; lightning surged from the blow. Hades dodges the attacks coming from angry Lizabeth sneering and taunting her. I hide to fight back the urge to help her there was no opening for me to attack and I had a feeling Hades has a trick up his sleeve. A strong leg embeds itself in the god's head rocking him back and the smile disappears from his face. Izzy was breathing heavily but stood in front of him with hard eyes and steady hands on her longsword.
"I should have known my brother would bless you with his touch, Zeus always was one to favor his children," Hades says darkly rubbing his head where Izzy kicked him.
As if the very mention of the King of Olympus Izzy's whole body was surrounded in sparks and bolts of lightning. The air smelled like ozone and the hair on the back of my neck stood up. She didn't seem to notice the psychical change happening to her. Lizabeth just stood there staring at the god who attacked her, a cold look had entered her blue eyes. I felt a spike of fear lodge itself in my gut, she wasn't in control of this power. It was going to kill her if Izzy didn't gain some kind of control over it.
The deep cruel tone of the God of the Underworld echoes through the empty pavilion. "You just made it so much easier darling, I should be thanking you really."
Raising his hands high Hades projects his voice "Ο θάνατος και η αθωότητα έχουν καταστρέψει τη γη και σε φέρνουν σε μένα, τη νύφη μου Περσεφόνη!"
Far too late did I realize that my charge had blindly fought her way into the circle with the god and as he finished speaking Izzy drops to her knees in pain. Screams roll of the bare ceiling and back on us, my bones felt like there were bending from the pain shared through our bond. I fight to stay on my feet and try to desperately take a step toward the circle. Izzy began to shake uncontrollably when the bright blue fire engulfed her. The two powers fighting for dominance over the poor girl, lightning, and fire twisting together. Her screams only got louder and I couldn't even hold my head up, my legs crumble under me as the bending of my bones intensified. Whatever pain Izzy was going through was a tremendous amount; the pain took all the strength out of me and I let out a choked gasp.
Hades laughs watching the scene unfold before him triumphantly the surges of power from the circle tore chunks of stone from the wall. The ground around Izzy fell apart; a deep pitch-black abyss opened up. Tartarus. The damn fool opened up a gateway to Tartarus. The dark energy of millions of foul and evil things emanated from the hole, Izzy still shook and screamed along the edges of it. Just one sudden turn and she would fall in. I let out another cry as I try to get to my feet only to be forced back down, my eyes going blurry. I felt useless, I can't stand up and help my charge. The god was too powerful and the pain I felt through the bond was incredible.
In all my years, I grew to know many witches and warlocks. Powerful ones that could heal anything or create a spell that would wipe out an entire village. I saw a lot in my 696 years but what was happening in front of me surpassed all of it. Lizabeth's now limp unconscious body was lifted by an invisible force and hovered over the abyss. The flames had won the battle, sparks of lightning shot out of her palms in weak spurts. The pain started to die down and I could feel my heart begin to beat at its slow pace again. Hades' attention was on the girl that hover over the pit To Tartarus, his dead eyes alight with what could be taken for glee. When my charges eyes open a pit widens in my stomach.
Those beautiful bright blue eyes were now a dark pink, the hate in them could wilt the most resilient rose. Even Lizabeth's hair transformed into a deeper red it grew in length, the strands poured into the abyss. Whatever invisible force that held her in the air floated her back down gently, those delicate arms wrapping around Hades' thick neck. The god looked down at the body snatcher inside my charge with a loving look that seemed so out of place on his cruel face. "My love, I have waited too long..." he says gently.
I watch in awe and disgust as Lizabeth reaches up to carcass a rough cheek, her thumb resting on his bottom lip. "I know my darling, I am here now. It was worth the wait." The voice that spoke from Izzy's lips was not her own; it was light and soft a nice soprano.
There is an avalanche of emotions that wash over me in that second but anger takes first place when Izzy's lips connect with his. A deep guttural growl comes from the back over my throat and I stagger to my feet flexing my fingers; my weapon of choice. The two gods don't notice me as they continue to embrace each other and feel my rage. I knew I was certain to get myself killed but what the hell, its already over right? With one swift leap, I am in the air and coming down quickly on the two. Just as I am about to attack the broad-shouldered god I am shoved back by a solid force and a light that blinds me. I Shield my eyes with a hand and look over to see Hades and Izzy doing the same.
"They are here," Hades murmurs to himself.
The Gods were here.
The light fades and I come face to face with four Olympian Gods. A regal-looking woman with black hair and sharp grey eyes, and three men that looked bred for war each sporting a glare. The biggest man stepped forward, a large man with black/gray hair and familiar blue eyes. "Brother, you've made a fool of yourself and us." The God booms.
Hades barks a laugh and wraps an arm around Lizabeth's small waist who just stares out to space with those unsettling pink eyes. "I am no fool, I just forced you out of your Ivory tower didn't I? You have no choice but to bear your punishment."
A small scoff comes from the petite lady her eyes like knives in Hades skull. "Punishment for what exactly? If I remember correctly it was you who volunteered to rule the underworld, it was you who made it impossible for the rest of us to see our demigod children because of your children's dangerous actions."
"DO NOT BLAME ME FOR YOUR OWN PARANOIA AND FEARS!" Hades roars nearly throwing Liza to the floor as he steps up to the other gods.
One of the gods lunges for Hades, he was dressed in armor with what looked like hundreds of weapons strapped to him. "You manipulated your children to start this war! To get your petty revenge."
The largest god throws out a hand to stop him from attacking. I stood there in shock just watching the whole scene play out. I found it best not to get involved when more than one deity showed up. "Ares, stop. We are not here to fight him."
Ares looks at who I assumed was Zeus with wide eyes. "But father-"
The woman puts a hand on his shoulder and the God of War takes a deep breath. "I know you can feel the battle outside but you must contain your rage brother."
Zeus looks at his brother then at Lizabeth who stood silent at the god's side still looking out to nowhere. "This ends now, you will come home and you will face what awaits you there Hades."
In an instant Hades lashes out, throwing himself at his brother and hitting him square in the chest. Like a short-fused bomb everything explodes into chaos, all the gods roaring and tearing into Hades who puts up one hell of a fight, bursting with a fire that singed my hair. I shuffle out of the way as the four gods force Hades to the ground every one of them snarling and growling like animals. I felt the need to help but what could I do other than getting killed in the crossfire. I was looking at the fight when a flutter out of the corner of my eyes catches my attention. Izzy strode toward the fight with unnatural grace and my heart jumped in my chest when she glances at my and I catch a hint of blue mixing with that dark pink. My whole body itched with anxiety as I followed her in a trance. I couldn't move, I couldn't help-not when all that I could do was get blown to pieces.
Hades stops struggling so much when he sees Lizabeth kneel in front of him, face digging into the cement harshly. Zeus and a god with long brown hair pinned him down all three snarling and struggling to keep their holds. The other two did nothing to stop Izzy from approaching, they only watch her with wary eyes. Zeus glances at her and I see something flash in his eyes.
"Darling-"Hades pleads.
Lizabeth hushes him with a finger and when she spoke I shuddered; it was like an odd echo of Izzy's voice and the goddess that occupied her. "I will not be your salve any longer, this world deserves better than you my love. It is time for you to repent."
When Izzy touches his face Hades screams in anger and pain before I have to cover my eyes again as the blinding light returns. For a moment all I can hear is the God of the Underworld yelling until it fades out with the light. I feel a sharp pain in my chest that makes me gasp in pain. Lowering my hand from my face I blink a few times before I can see properly. The room is empty and the air isn't heavy anymore, the smell of ozone fading away with the gods. Panic sets in when I don't see Lizabeth, whipping my head around I try to see if she got blown back by the force of the gods leaving but I see nothing. I lost her.
I lost her.
I lost her.
I lost her.
The thought repeats in my mind as I slowly break down, my heart felt like it was missing. I couldn't feel her through my bond. And that weighs like thousand tons, crushing me all at once.
Lizabeth is gone.
