Jeremy woke up to sound of someone knocking on his door. He groaned waking up from his bed and dragging himself towards the front door. He opened the door and it was his mother, he knew that she was coming today but not this early. It was only 8am and she was already here. "Sweetheart aren't you going to let your mother in?"She asked. "oh, sorry mom. Come on in." He said. She entered, the place was a mess. There were clothes on the couch, dirty dishes on the kitchen sink, there were dirty clothes on the bedroom floor. He thought that he was going to clean up when he wakes up because he thought that his mother was going to arrive a bit later but no here she was. "OH my goodness, look at this mess, how do you live like this." She said looking at Jeremy. "I have just been busy, I haven't found the time to clean up yet. I was planning on cleaning up when I wake up because I thought that you were going to arrive a little later." He said. "See that is why you should get married if you had a wife then this place would have been clean and you would not have to worry about cleaning it yourself." She said, well she did have a point. "Mom how many times do I have to tell you, I just haven't found the right one yet." He said. He was already tired of telling her the same thing over and over again, but he knew his mother well she will never stop telling him to get married because she feels like man his age are supposed to be married and having kids already. "It is not like you have not found the right one, you are not looking, there are a lot of single women out there who are looking for a man to settle down with." She said. "Mom can we please not talk about that." He said. "I am going to take a shower now." He Said. "Okay you go and shower and I will clean this place up, but you should really start looking for a wife and stop focusing more on your work." She said, heading to the kitchen to start washing the dishes. Her friends already have grandchildren and daughters in laws but she doesn't and they are always laughing at her some even say that her son might be gay.
After twenty minutes Jeremy got out of the shower, he put on his clothes and he went to check if his mother was done. She was not yet done and she looked exhausted, he kinda felt bad for her. Maybe she was right he needed to found someone to settle down with, but who? And the first person that into his mind was Barbara but he did not fully trust her, every time he thinks that he can finally trust her she just changes again. He doesn't understand what kind of a person she is, but maybe she is not as bad as they say she is, well only time will tell. "son I see you are done, why don't you help me out." She said. "Okay." He answered and they both cleaned up the entire apartment. His mother hoped and pray that he would have a wife soon so that she wouldn't have to clean up his mess every time she came over.
After an hour of cleaning, Jeremy's mother threw herself on the couch. She was tired, she hadn't done this much work in a while since she has a maid at her house to do most of the household chores. Jeremy decided to make breakfast. He made chocolate stuffed waffles since they were his mom's favorite. He put the breakfast on the kitchen table then he told his mom to come and eat. "So, do you have a girlfriend?" She asked sitting down. "Uhm... Well... Not really." He said. He wanted to say yes but he remembered the reason why he was with Barbara. "So you are telling me that you haven't found someone yet or are you not even looking for someone." She said. Truthfully he was not looking for anyone maybe he was comfortable being single. "Yes mom I have been looking for someone, I am just not that lucky." He said. "Well if you can not find anyone then just tell me, I will arrange something for you." She said. "If it is a blind date then the answer is no." He said. "Come on sweetie, what if it works out." She said. "Mom just eat your food." He said. "Why are you always avoiding this topic." She asked. "Mom I am not avoiding it, it's just that you keep telling me the same thing over and over again and it's getting annoying." He said truthfully. "So you are saying that I am annoying you." She said feeling hurt. "Mom that is not what I said don't twist my words what I am saying is that you shouldn't keep reminding that I'm single because I know and I don't need to be reminded about it. And if I find someone then I will tell you." He said. He had never really said anything like this to his mother because he was afraid of hurting her feelings but he was starting to get tired of it, he didn't need to be reminded over and over again that he is single. "Son I don't see anything wrong with wanting you to settle down and have children, any mother would want that for their kids." She said. "Mom will you stop, look I get it you want grandchildren and a daughter in law but that us not something that you can find anywhere not every person wants to settle down right now, like I said I will tell you when I find the right guy okay?I'm going out to get some fresh air." He said walking out and leaving his mother alone and her thoughts
