Chapter 9 - Working together

'Your mum can see me, and thinks I'm you'.

Anna put her head back under the pillow in despair.

annA sat beside Anna waiting for her to look at her. After a silence that lasted what seemed forever, annA tapped her on the shoulder 'I am here now and we have to let me get on with the job I was sent to do'.

Anna lifted her head and stared directly at annA, 'and what exactly were you sent to do?'.

annA took a deep breath and began to explain.

'I am your inner peace. To enjoy inner peace you have to let go of things and look after you. You have to stop doing things for other people and look after you. I am here to do that for you. Not everyone gets a physical inner peace like me, most people can find their inner peace themselves without any physical assistance. You have been struggling and we can see you need my help. You usually call me and I arrive when you feel all is lost'. annA paused, she could see Anna was processing the information.

Her face began to fill with colour. Red rage filled Anna's face, even her eyes were incensed by the latest revelation. Anna gritted her teeth as she retorted 'I am 16 years old how on earth can I need anything let alone inner peace'

annA grinned, she was told this was the usual first reaction followed by more questions. Before annA could gather a response Anna continued, what exactly are you made of? Where have you come from? What is wrong with me that I might need help?'

annA came to settle beside Anna on the bed and laid her hand on her shoulder 'nothing is wrong with you. You are braver than you know and stronger than you think, but when you looked into the mirror your eyes begged for help and thats why I am here, the only problem is, I am not meant to be seen. No one has ever seen an inner peace other than the person to whom we belong. Something is not right and we have to find out what it is'. annA hadn't processed this information herself yet. She hadn't become present before and was praying she had misunderstood her teachings, but deep down annA knew that wasn't the case.

Anna rose from her bed and headed to the window and stared into the dark sky 'what happens if someone sees you'. annA laid on the bed in defeat, knowing that saying it out loud meant there was an even bigger risk it could happen. 'They think I am you, before long I will become you and one of us' annA paused, she turned away not wanting to say the last two words, with a heavy sigh she continued ... 'will die'.

'The being and the peace stop working together and each battle to replace the other'.

'I should not be visible and should easily be able to assist the being I am nominated for, I have only ever been taught about joining my being, my teachers warn us of the risks involved, but I never thought it would come true'.

Anna turned to face annA, she saw the confident reflection had now become somewhat smaller than when she arrived, her shoulders had sunk and her head hung low. Anna would almost feel sorry for her if it wasn't for the fact she was sat in her room claiming one of them would die. Anna couldn't understand what was being said to her, but nor could she understand how someone who looked identical to her, could step out of an old mirror and live and breathe next to her. There was only one question 'what do we need to do?'
