Most of us had been resting the last 48 hours, gaining strength back from the other night. Viktor was recovering pretty quickly already. I couldn't rest though I was to fidgety, not sleeping the greatest, just wanting to practice and learn what I could about my family and the unique trait I had received. Joel was working on finding what info he could, but it was rather hard to track down as it was like we didn't exist originally or perhaps we were wiped from the internet after we lost.
While he worked on that I had began working with Lillith learning about her and how she does everything and how she became so good at a young age. Walking to the sparring room I look over to her
"Lill I learnt A bit about you back when I researched Cormac youve been with him now for a while havent you?"
Smiling over at me she nods
"Yes he took me in when nobody else wanted to, he gave me a home and people to call family I dont think I could ever repay him for all he has done not just for me but for all of us."
Nodding my head I begin to ask her
"What has he done for you guys?" I was intrigued to learn more.
Lillith looks forward before speaking again
"Well none of us had great lives. We were all searching for something. Justice it seems we found our people with the same ideals that we have. Some of us are harder to crack or talk to though, take Julius for instance he has lost alot in his life thats why he is so cold to everyone or a prick even once in a while. Joel drowns himself in his studies and work. Raylee shes always fighting. They all have there own problems but together we act like a family. And really thats one of the best things to ask for. "
I smile at her as she begins to open the door to the sparring room
"Alright Silv, ready for a fight?"
She says with a smirk simply I nod as we get ready.
…
We stood on opposite sides of the stadium, weapons in hand. I didnt want to use my ability when I didnt have much control over it which was something I would have to learn. For now hand to hand would be the best way to advance our skills. Sona sat on the sidelines ready if anything were to happen to either of us.
Taking our places on opposite ends of the room, we take our stances as a countdown rings through the speakers
"3…...2.....1...Fight!"
Lillith was quick wasting no time coming at me, she was quick not leaving much open for me to strike. Her blade came down quickly towards my upper arm, I block her with my arms crossed in front of me. I push her back, grabbing my own weapons. Her face has changed to something of determined. Taking a proper stance, I curl my fingers around the hilt of my blade. I move first in her direction, going head on my blade out to my side.. She chuckles and grabs my arm
"Your first mistake was coming right at me with your arms away from your body makes it easier for me to get the upper hand"
She says as she throws me over her shoulder towards the ground. I hit with a hard thud, causing a dust cloud to come up around me. The wind knocked out of me causing me to gasp for a moment then choke on the dust, the pain through my back tingles. I let out a growl as I flip onto my knees before springing back up at her back for she was still turned away from me.
Bringing my foot up it collides with her back throwing her to the side. She catches herself before falling on the floor, skidding along with her feet behind her and her hand to the ground to slow her down. I earn a chuckle from her
"That was a good move, rather quick as well. Your learning, your strength its building but are you able to block this?"
Staying low to the ground, she runs and slides trying to hit her foot into my shins, which prevails. Like hitting a wall I smack my knees onto the ground, scraping them across the floor. I knew i wouldn't stay down though I will always get back up. She had moved back more as I glared at her, a small spark of silver glints in my eye.
I let out a scream then run at her but as she readies herself I move to the side and around her, grabbing her wrist I flip her over onto the ground before jumping on top of her holding her down with my knees. Hands firmly gripped on her wrists she struggles, she brings her head up smacking right between my eyes, I hear a slight crack but not broken. Blood seeps from my nose, knocking me back and off of her. I wipe some blood off on my hand and give a small chuckle as my eyes seem to flicker.
She runs at me; her knife up, ready to strike at my left shoulder; I dodge out of the way enough but it still cuts my sleeve, surprised she falls and I bring my elbow up the hit right between the shoulder blades throwing her to the ground. She skins her hands where minor cuts bleed slightly from the rough floor.
She doesn't stay down for long and gets up looking pissed. Her fists are balled, her knife resting against her forearm. She punches me; I deflect most of the blows, some hit me in the sides but I deck her across the cheek, a fresh bruise already blooming. She spits out some blood.
"You definitely got a hard hit." spoken through staggered breaths. She hits me across the temple, reopening a healing wound.
We keep going at each other, not realizing the rest of our friends had gathered to watch. Blow after blow we don't stop until we hear a door slam shut and a loud but clear voice echo through the ring.
"ENOUGH!"
We stop on site. Looking at each other we realize how much we damaged each other it was pretty bad, but we broke nothing at least.
…
We got sent to a room still bleeding and were then being looked after by Sona and Joel We sat across from each other and shook our heads trying to hide are small grins. Sona came and looked at me first, cleaning off the blood and checking the damage. I flinch at her touch on some more tender areas.
"My word you truly enjoy getting your face beat it seems, or perhaps its just your easiest target for someone, you gotta learn how to protect that for it is your money maker."
I let out a laugh
"As if I have the looks to make money for someone simply to look at me, right." I push her a bit
"Hey now lets finish you up, it doesn't seem like you broke anything so that is good news, you both gotta be smarter though, this isn't the real thing."
She says looking between me and Lillith. Joel had been cleaning her wounds off and patching up whatever needed it. She rolled her eyes at Sona
"I get this is only training but we can't go easy on one another that never prepares us for what we may actually face out there. Id rather be ready for anything instead of in the dark."
A new voice chimes in, one we heard in what seemed like forever.
"Your not wrong Lil, but you also can't kill each other out there. We do still need you both in working condition espically with what's still to come. Im not saying go easy just know there are limits."
His indifferent tone still pinched something in me. He stood leaning against the doorway, not even looking at us, rather out at the court below us. He seemed distant right now, like a lot was on his mind, though I don't think he was going to open up about anything anytime soon.
Lillith sighs and jumps off her bed. She walks over to Cormac.
"You cant protect us all forever Cor you have to let us learn from our own mistakes"
His vision now falls on the young girl in front of him. Sometimes I forget just how young she is but its easy to see in her smooth skin and lively locks, even after a battle.
"Dont you realize I know that, I may not be able protect everyone, but I have to try." His fist were balled at his hips.
"Go get a bath and go to bed, Lillith.
She glares at him
"Im eighteen you can't-"
She gets cut off
"I said go!"
She moves back a bit in shock before hitting the wall and storming out.
His gaze returned to the window.
Sona and Joel look at me then to each other before Cormac speaks.
"Can you guys leave I need a minute with Cyra, alone."
They look towards me. My hand was resting on my opposite arm. Sona gives me a hug before touching Joel's shoulder before leaving the room. Joel gives us one more look as if to say are you sure? I smile at him slightly and nod, letting him know I will be fine. He nods back, then exits the rest of the way.
After a moment I get up and rush towards him
"What the hell was that all about, you had no right to speak to her or them that way, the hell is wrong with you?!"
I glare at him. He doesn't move. His arms crossed tightly against his chest and I can see the muscle tense at the corner of his cheek.
"You could've lost control and we can't have that. You barely have control over your ability and having your emotions everywhere won't help keep them under control. You more dangerous than you think Silv."
I feel my face flush
"Dont you think I realize that! I am more afraid of this then you could ever imagine. Do you know what its like to be so strong without control. It's a battle, a constant battle with myself. Do you think I would ever want to hurt any of you?! your all I have, you guys are the only ones who give a damn about me and what I want, do you even know what its like to fear yourself?!"
I could feel a cold tear stream down my hot cheek,
He moves slightly closer to me.
"I know a lot more about pain then you think I do. I know how it feels, to hate yourself."
His tone wasn't vicious, but yet still sent a chill down my spine. He moved away from me, resting his hands on the table
"Ive already lost too much I can't lose you guys as well"
He hangs his head down, his grip firm on the table. There was stuff he wasn't telling me, perhaps stuff he had told nobody. It was clear he didn't open up to anyone and tried to work it all out on himself. I rest my hands at the end of the table.
"I may not know how you feel yourself, but that still doesn't give you the right to yell and scream at whoever you please."
He says nothing to me, closing in on himself it seemed.
"Who hurt you? Who damaged you so much that you no longer feel you can talk to even those who are closest to you. Where you feel you must do everything on your own. Who broke you?"
My eyes never waiver. His hands are still gripped firmly on the desk seemingly so hard he could even crack it.
"Why are you like this?"
He slams his hands against the table
"Because I am!"
He screams
"Because I am..." quieter this time. I jump back in shock
He looks over at me realizing what he has done. I don't think he meant to blow up like that but I can't stay there anymore tonight. I lift my hands from the desk and in a whispered tone speak.
"When your ready to talk you know where to find me. Goodnight Brightly."
Cyra..
"I SAID GOODNIGHT"
I turn and leave the room before he can say anything else.
