Chereads / I don't want to be the heroine! / Chapter 4 - chapter 4

Chapter 4 - chapter 4

While Ella was having a mental breakdown talking to the strange woman, unbeknownst to her, the crowd was in chaos.

"It's so bright!"

"Just like the sun!"

"What's happening?!"

"We have never seen anything like this before, your Holiness." Reported the Church Minister to the Holy Bishop.

"Unbelievable...a one in a thousand-year gift."

"Farewell, my child. Heed my words. You must go now. Be strong." The beautiful lady said.

"Umm, excuse me! But no! You can't just tell me this weird prophecy thing and I don't know, give me no powers or anything?! I know I'm apparently OP but you can't just drop this bomb! Please come back! Goddamit, I'm gonna die!!" Ella yelled.

But before Ella could say anything else, she was sucked back into the present. Lifting her hand of the stone, she turned to walk back with the guard but realised he was gone. Instead in front of her was an old man, with a long white beard wearing white and gold robes.

"Umm...excuse me, your Holiness. But what's going on?" Ella asked cautiously. [Was I out for that long?]

"Come, my child. You have an amazing gift. You may return back to the other students." Lending his hand forward towards her, Ella hesitantly took it.

As she walked back to the other children, there were murmurs and whispers and finger-pointing. [I don't mind the words but please not the pointing. Did they not teach these kids manners? I hate this attention].

"Ella Deon. You have been blessed by our Goddess, Maria with an extraordinary power. A one in a millennium gift. You have been given the gift of Light with a rank of a Goddess!"

Gasps could be heard as the old man that accompanied her, yelled her powers. [I guess the old man is the Holy Bishop. Thank god I said your holiness instead of Sir!]

"Silence! We shall continue on."

Once again, the mana test continued as Ella continued prying her eyes out for the main characters. [Sh*t where are they? I mean, at least let me have some eye candy. This is getting boring.] Ella sighed.

Her wish came quickly true when the name, 'Wulff Fern' was called out. Ella didn't even realise he was beside her and as he walked past he gave her what seemed to be a smirk? [Did this fucking kid just smirk? Wait... am I getting hit on by a child?] With a chilling aura, the crowd quickly gave way to him. The Crystal shone an emerald green colour that reminded Ella of her eyes. A Master of Earth, the boy quickly returned beside Ella but not before giving another small grin.

[What is going on? Is this some sort of hidden character or something? I'm going to write this down when this finishes]. Giving small looks at this mystery 'Wulff' boy, Ella realised he was incredibly good-looking. He had wavy black hair that came to his shoulders and deep, brown eyes. His skin was tanned like bronze and he smelt like rain when it hits the earth. With a height of over 6 feet and wearing an all-black suit, it gave his appearance of someone ' chic' and of high status. He looked...expensive, Ella thought. [His suit looks like it's made of high-quality material. This guy is no joke. Must be the son of a rich merchant or minister. And why does he have to be so sexy!! He's exactly my type]. Ella screamed and cried inside from envy.

Ella let out a huge sigh before she heard a deep voice.

"Is there something wrong?" The voice came from none other than the boy beside her.

"Huh? Oh no, nothing." Ella quickly answered giving him a quick glance not to be rude.

The boy gave a small chuckle. [Is this kid making fun of me? If only his voice wasn't so damn heavenly I would've beat him up].

As time went, she spotted Cedric Hartgone, the best friend of Prince Blaiz who ended up being a Master in Water. He had silver hair that reached his ears and yellow eyes. Wearing a navy suit, and silver glasses, he looked like a regal scholar.

Next was Damien Lulkery, the Prince's knight who was called to be a Master in Air. With red locks, hazel eyes, and wearing brown leather, he looked like a proper knight in training.

[God damn, are all these characters gonna be Masters? Sheesh...no wonder the Prince are besties with these two. Though...they are pretty hot. Wait a second...the Blaize's last name is Leon, but Damien had already been called out. Maybe the royals are always called last?].

"Merula Noir!"

[Oh sh*t! My fave is coming!!!]. Keeping her eyes peered out, she watched a small girl come out of the crowd. Although her height was short, she made up with her impeccably straight posture and cold aura. Wearing a simple but luxurious scarlet dress with bows in the middle and black lace gloves, Merula resembled exactly what a beautiful villainess would look like.

Placing her pale hands on the stone, the Crystal turned a murky colour before it became a piercing, shimmering black stone. It reminded Ella of the night sky, full of stars and the milky way. [How can this black be so bright yet so dark at the same time? Sh*t I wanna see more but my eyes are squinting].

Gasps were heard once again.

"Another one?!"

"A blessed child!"

"As expected of the Noir House."

"Merula Noir. The Goddess Maria has gifted you the power of Darkness. With the rank of a Goddess, use your gift wisely."

[Wisely? That sounds hella suspicious...don't tell me there's something deeper about the Noir House and the Church?].

As Ella began to doze off waiting, she finally heard the name she was waiting for.

"The Crown Prince, Blaize Leon!"

[Oh sh*t! It's starting!]

From behind her, she could see the crowd giving way to the Prince, like Moses dividing the Dead Sea. [Goddamn, he's a spectacle].

Wearing red and gold robes and a sword-swinging on his hip, his aura shook the entire Church. With perfect golden hair, deep blue eyes and a tall figure, Ella could easily spot him even from a mile away. Ella held her breath and he walked past her. [Holy crap. He's fucking hot as hell. No wonder he's the main lead].

The boy, Wulff beside her coughed.

"Are you okay?" Ella asked.

"I'm fine. Just swallowed something bad."

Ella shrugged it off before going to witness the main event. As soon as Blaiz's hand touched the Crystal, it shone a massive red light. The temperature increased a few degrees and Ella could feel the hot warmth touching her skin. [What the hell! This must be the power of the royals]. When it was finished, the crowd got even louder.

"Silence! Crown Prince, Blaize Leon of Lumiere. You have been gifted the power of Fire with a God rank. May you use your gift for the prosperity of the kingdom!"

A loud applause followed with a few cheers and whistles. The Prince smiled at the crowd before leaving with the Holy Bishop. It reminded Ella of the British royal family. [That smile seemed so scripted. I don't blame him though, must be hard on the poor kid].

"Now that concludes this year's Mana Test. You will be split up depending on your ranks. Apprentices and Experts on the left and Masters and Gods and Goddesses on the Right. You will be enrolled in either the Maria or the Leon Academy. More details will be given later. As for now, we ask Goddess Maria to give her blessings and wish you good luck on your future studies!" The Church Minister concluded.

"Thank god." The boy beside her muttered.

"Sigh...agreed," Ella said, taking a deep breath.

"Which ways the Leon Academy?"

"Huh. Oh, I think it's on the right?" Ella answered. [Is he starting a conversation with me?]

"Wanna walk together?"

"Sure. Sorry, what's your name by the way?" Ella asked, pretending to lie.

"The name's Wulff Fern. But, I think you already know that don't you? With all the staring?" Ella turned to face him only to be met with a big smirk.

"I wasn't even staring that much. Calm down." Ella rolled her eyes.

"If you say so."

"Oh, my name is Ella Deon by the way. A pleasure to meet you, Mister observant, Wulff Fern," Ella put her hand out for a handshake.

Wulff took her hand before saying, "The pleasure's all mine, Miss obvious, Ella Deon."

"You-!"

"Shall we?" Sticking his elbow out, Ella realised he wanted her to take his arm.

[I see...this guy's a flirt. Well, that's not going to happen. Not on my watch!] Ella thought imitating the famous internet meme.

"No thank you. I can walk by myself." Giving him a fake smile, Ella walked.

"Fair enough, but you're going the wrong way, El-la." Wulff said, emphasising her name into syllables.

Ella stopped before realising.

"Shut up and don't say a word."

Wulff chuckled before Ella followed him closely.

Ella - 0, Wulff- 1.
