Soon after breakfast, Destrian joined his parents for a meeting with some of the dukes of the city and magistrates of the villages. He couldn't stop thinking about what Sianna had told him, but he also knew the only reason he was here was because his father wanted to put him in charge of one thing at a time.
It was his father's way of ensuring the kingdom got used to having him in charge, so there wouldn't be any chaos when he took over. After all, he was the only prince. If anyone were to step up and try to prove him unworthy of the throne, it might just be a mortal taking over since there wasn't any other eligible heir in Darius's bloodline.
For all they knew, it might just turn out to be one of the mortals who was yet to accept the existence of demons in the kingdom, who might try to get rid of them.
So, although all he wanted was to go to Itrusia and find his mate, he forced himself to focus on the matter at hand.
