"Why would I know such a thing? No one understands immortals." Penelope shook her head feigning oblivion. "One moment, they are making plans and the next thing you know, they are doing something else. They probably change their minds faster than the blink of an eye."
Reginald stared down at her, gauging whether or not she knew what was going on. When their eyes met, he snickered. "One thing you forget, my dear Penelope, is that immortals understand humans better than they understand themselves."
She swallowed hard to stop herself from saying something that might just betray her. She kept her gaze locked on his as she shook her head. "I have no idea what you are talking about, my lord."
