Delaney was at a loss for the rest of the day. She wanted to assume that Darius had remembered something that needed to get done and had hence left in a hurry. However, he neither called for her nor came back. She could only face the truth.
At night, she couldn't help asking Ylvia, "Is he mad at me for being a demon?"
Ylvia had also found it odd that Darius didn't say a word to Delaney at the dinner table. That had never happened before, but she didn't want to think the worst of it. "My lady, I don't think so. His Majesty loves you so much and would not cast you aside because of this. Besides, he already knew your identity when the two of you got married."
There was that, but Delaney still felt troubled. "But he still acted like he was disgusted with me after hearing what I said."
"Maybe you misunderstood him." Suggested Ylvia, still not making any sense of it. "May I get you ready for bed?"
