In the Kingdom of Vardarul lies a vast mountain region impassable by many and home to many clans of Dwarf. The Forested Tops of Varadul spans wide enough to bare a vast forest above the clouds, which some hunters and Adventurers have come to hunt monsters for the Dwarven Kingdom of Varadul.
The sun had just rose past the horizon, causing the clouds to hide the vast forest when a sudden crash clears the area. Smoke began to rise up above the tree tops while the forest grew silent.
"You called that flying???" Jayce kicks the window open and crawls out, followed by Timber who was shaking sporadically.
"I did say it was a prototype, did I not?" The dwarf steps out coughing and waving the smoke out of his face. "I landed right where I calculated it would be."
Terek climbs out of the cockpit after the dwarf and sits down on a rock. "Now that we're on Strazza Grah… We need to find her."
"I'm afraid you won't be leaving Varadul for a while…." The dwarf remarks.
"I know… I heard them the moment you got out, Ganon.." Terek stands up taking his sword out of the plane.
"Dammit… Can't we just rest for a minute without any trouble?" Jayce laid on the floor by Timber.
"What are two Humans, a banished Dwarf, and… A Direwolf doing in Varadul?" A voice called out from the forest. An older man then steps out of the bushes holding a longneck rifle aimed at the trio hem several other humans and dwarves, male and female, step out with rifles and swords aiming at them.
"These two are on a mission from across the ocean. We need to see the King" Ganon spoke as he held his hands up and walked to the man. "I need to speak to my Brother." Jayce and Terek glanced at each other then back to the man.
"You told us the one who brought us to you was your brother, but your brother is the king?" Jayce whispered to Ganon.
"Aye, that one was my younger brother. I'll tell ye' on the way down. It won't take long."
The man held his hand up, everyone then lowered their weapons. "Take these these three and their Direwolf down." The man turned to one of the dwarves behind him. "We don't have the authority as Adventurers but since you guys are Hunters for the King, you may have an exception." The dwarf nods then waves them over.
The Dwarven Hunters surround them and began to guide them down the mountain. Jayce walks closer to Ganon and begins to ask him. "What did he mean Banished?"
Ganon kept his eyes forward as they walked down. "Me brother banished me when one me experiments blew up the sector of the kingdom that was entrusted to me."
The leading Dwarf chuckled. "Ye' did more than blow up your sector. Ye' killed thousands of innocent lives…"
Jayce went to interrupt but Terek stopped him, placing his hand on his shoulder.
"It's fine boys… Me could've been executed, but me brother was a lenient feller…" Ganon's expressions didn't change but the two could sense the pain and guilt for those lives lost in the tragic accident.
"However, yer' lucky your brother has been considering of sending someone for ye." They continued down the mountain to a giant gate guarded by stone statues lined up along the sides of a bridge. The gate was layered, having a massive double door behind it with another gate behind that.
"Isn't that a little overboard?" Jayce asked as they reached the bridge.
"Can't have too much protection, especially after having a dragon swarm attack hundreds of years ago and an army of undead hundreds of years after." The dwarf walked over to the gate and shot something into the air, the guards above the door saw the object then began to open each layer one by one. "Yer' lucky ye didn't step on a trap. The king thought about trapping our bridge."
"Hmmm. Seems me brother is on edge if he was considering traps and me self." Ganon spoke softly until he was over heard by another Hunter.
"Watch yer, mouth. The king has a lot on his mind." The female Dwarven Hunter behind him barks at them as she bumps them with her rifle. She had a pale complexion with freckles that crossed from cheek to cheek. Her orangish red hair pulled up in a ponytail.
Jayce decided to shut his mouth so Ganon wouldn't be in any more trouble before meeting the king. Several minutes had passed before they reached the throne room. The leading Dwarf Hunter glances to the guards who stood by the entrance to the throne room and pulled out what looked like a badge of some kind. The guards were armored from head to toe wearing flat and thick metal plates. Each guard held a pole arm in hand opposite of the entrance doors.
"Ye' may enter. The king has already heard of this current predicament." The guards opened the doors to reveal a massive room with with marble flooring. The walls and ceiling were left as dark stone with pillars sprouting up to hold the room in place.
The King sat on his stone like throne hand battle hammer in hand, resting the bottom on the ground. "Brother… What brings ye here after ye have been banished?"
The Hunters stood back and lined up along the sides of the path. Ganon took a few steps forward away from Jayce, Terek, and Timber. "Brother, these two boys came from the other Continent and are in dire need to rescue the Princess.."
"Her uncle has been causing a lot of pain in me side… But I don't suppose yer' here for him either." The King responded then looked at Terek, a boy who's build suggests one thing, but weapon says another. His eyes then glance to Timber who stood by Terek's side, almost towering the young man. Then lastly to Jayce, a boy who radiates passion and caring. "Ye Boys are different than the Humans I've seen alright." He stands up and sets his hammer against his throne. And steps down from his throne. "Very well. But on one condition." He says staring at the two boys.
Terek looks down into the kings dark brown eyes as he stroked his thick gray beard. "As long as we can get to where we're going, we'll do anything."
The King stares him down then busts out into laughter. "Straight forward, I like ye." He stops laughing and looks into his eyes. "Take care of me brother. He's stubborn, but he's found a couple interesting fellers."
