Experiment nine hundred five: failed
"Sh*t man!"
I was brainstorming for days now. Nothing is going in my favor. Time is running out. Kurama would come to get it soon. Don't know how would I explain this to him. Maybe he would understand or maybe not. He's a short-tempered bastard. On second thought, why did I take this job from him? The money he offered is huge. Ah(sigh) I got my greed the best of me. If I got the money, he promised I could expand my research. I scratched my head in admiration and with regret.
"It's such a pain," I said lazily.
I just couldn't find any compatible humans for the system. I finished making the system a week ago. But the problem is humans are so weak. They just couldn't handle the pain of the system. After a minute or so they die out of the unbearable pain. Indeed, that pain is not something one can bear. But I tried the system with more than one hundred humans. Not a single of them seems well-matched with the system.
First, I thought that the problem is with the system itself. To solve that problem, I changed the algorithm and made it rather user-friendly. But in the end, it failed miserably.
"Seems like I have to leave it to Kurama. I mean my job was to make it, not find the person suited for it although I find myself suited for it. Yeah, it's true, I tried it also to myself. Don't you know every scientist would experiment with it for themselves at first then with others?
When I attempted the system for myself, I became a completely different person than I'm right now. I could feel the power of it. The extreme power was flowing inside of me. But I only lasted for a seven-minute forty-five seconds. I was undoubtedly the one to last this long. As a Psychopath, I can tell it's because of my regeneration power. If only I didn't have that power, I would be died by busting my heart. I just can't believe what a deadly tool I made. I mean it happens to give you more power than you could imagine, so that's a small price for it.
*Knock* *Knock*
who it would be this early In morn'? Thinking about who was knocking on my lab's door, I got close to the door and whispered,
"Who's that?"
"R-renar." Replied from outside.
"Who sent you? I want only the name." I negotiated with the person who was supposed to answer.
"Kurama…I'm here to get that thing?" he said in a quiet tone.
He must be some small fry sent by Kurama. Whatever he didn't seem someone suspicious.
I opened my door to enter him. "oh...Come in"
A high-spirited man entered without any hesitation, he was wearing a suit that was supposed to be worn at the funeral. Did he visit someone's funeral earlier and then come here? Or did he come here to attend my funeral? Thinking about those useless pieces of stuff made me shiver in fear.
"Doc? Are you okay?" he said seeing me spacing out "This place is not so neat. Did you not clean once?"
"uah…Oh.. that.. don't mind it. It's just the experiment material I used today." I shoveled the girl's body that was fallen on the ground with a mob. Then put it in a dust bin.
"So, you came here to get the system?" I asked while trying to organize the room. He took a seat on my chair that I cleared out a moment ago.
"Yes, that is what I was ordered." Said Renar with an arrogant attitude.
"But here comes a problem. The system is made beautifully but I couldn't find any suitable person for it. I tried putting it on more than enough humans but no one seems to fit for it." I explained the condition smoothly. What a perfect speech I told!
"So, Doc where's the system or whatever that is. I don't have much time to waste on you." Renar said sluggishly. "and what's wrong with that dude? He's staring at me for a while now."
Renar pointed towards a man seating idlily in a chair. His both hands mad legs were tied to the chair, making him hard to escape. His eyes were wide open. Seeing his depressed face, I remember that he was one of the humans I experimented with in the system. His eyes were rotten like a dead fish. One can hardly see him as a human, more likely they would feel disgust glazing at him. I wonder why didn't Renar scream out in the first place. Was he used to those kinds of stuff?
"Ouh! Don't mind him. That guy is out of this world. He didn't have any consciousness whatsoever. I mean he was the ninety-one person who tried the system. After failing he is been like that."
"Was he even alive? I think you should get rid of him. He doesn't look pleasant to eyes." Said Renar with a straight face.
"No-o, I can't do that. Despite being a failed experiment, he is the only one who remained alive after the experiment. That's why I showcased him in front." I said as I copied the system to a pen drive. When I was about to hand the pen drive over to Renar, I saw him speaking on his phone. He was given instructions by none other than Kurama himself. Even if he was far away from me, I could gasp some of his conversations.
"Get rid of everything including him." The person behind the phone gave direct order. Without a doubt, Renar stood out from his chair.
As he was about to take the pen drive, I was holding, I promptly threw the pen drive out of the window.
"So, you heard me?"
"Of course, I would you dumbass. Also, you made it clear for me to hear me in the first place don't you?"
"Yes, I don't want any misunderstanding. After getting killed by my hands, you wouldn't get regret like 'Why did I do to die like that?' Like that." Renar replied with a smug.
"You are well conscious of me. How sweet of you."
"don't fool around. I know you don't have only a copy of the system. If you don't have another copy, you wouldn't have thrown the pen drive in the first place." He saw through my mind. "Why would I have? I mean I fear death. That's why I give my life more worth than that system." I argued.
"Don't make me laugh. A Psychopath is afraid of death? That's hilarious. Moreover, you only care about your research. Nothing beats you and I know that quite well." Renar said, "Why did you say it? I mean the second copy. Is it in your jacket? Or…." I unconsciously looked at my diary that was laying on the table next to my computer.
"uoooo….I see, That's where you're hiding Doc." Shi*t, I messed up. I bit my lip in frustration and was on my way to grab the diary. But in the moment of time, I Renar took it a second earlier.
"Gotcha!" Renar scream with happiness and pulled out his gun from his right suit pocket.
"No-o, Renar, this is not what Kurama promised. He never said that he would do this." I said in agony and fear. Sweats were falling from my shivering body.
"Didn't you hear what he said? He said to get rid of everything including YOU!" Renar laughed crazily. "What, you don't want to fight back?"
"I'm not in a good health. Due to the experiment, my body has become weak. Even if I try I wouldn't able to defeat you more or less." I said as I looked down, and lowered my pathetic face. There is no way for me to run. If Kurama said something he wouldn't hold back until it's fulfilled. As I was saying my last word to this world, A bullet flew near my ear. The sound vibrating made my sensation went Beeeeeeep.
"Huh?" I faced him in astounded "You missed?"
"No, why would I miss from such a short range."
True, why would he miss? Said Renar, locking his sights behind me.
But then again, if he didn't miss then….
I glaze back and saw the gas tube leaking. The bullet must have made a hole in that tube. However, I couldn't find the reason for doing such.
"Sorry, Doc. I know you did your best to help us. But this is something that can't be avoidable." As he said that he lighted up an old rusty lighter that was kept in his right pocket.
I see so he missed the bullet on purpose. Nevertheless, he was ordered to get rid of every research material that I have. Burning it is the easiest way possible and Renar took that possibility. Wise decision. As I was admiring him, the fire spread across the room. It began to manifest me. The warm yet painful heat made me sweat. Renar closed the door and left me behind without feeling any empathy. He was smiling to my bitter end.
