Chapter 87 - it's my first time hearing it

"Reyes, Have you got any idea what the word 'Dercy' means?" Mr. Lukas wanted your opinion while idly seating in his chair specifically made with a certain type of made. It looked gorgeous from distance. I don't usually like those kinds of fancy chairs but this one was special. It emits an attractive aura making my heart race and began thinking of its magnificent appearance. I know I looked like someone who had a crush. In my case, I always wanted a gaming setup that includes the gaming chair. The one with making RGB lights and so. Mr. Lukas was looking at me with an exciting face as if he wanted me to say something. Did he ask me something? Oh, he did! My mind was driven in admiring the beauty of his chair.

"S-Sorry, I have no idea, sir."

"I see." He seemed disappointed by my answer.

"Dark!"

"Huh?" As he called out the world 'Dark' I became a bit puzzled. Was he calling me a dark? That's weird. I'm not that dark. Maybe brown is the perfect skin tone of mine.

"It's the meaning of that word." So that means dark. I think it's a creepy name.

"I never heard of that. In fact, it's my first time hearing it."

"Well, it's quite rare. But how can people name their children something like that?" The question wasn't for me. He asked it himself. He gazed out of the window wondering about that. His eyes were fixed on the large tree outside the window. It's probably a fruit tree. No, maybe a flowering tree. Whatever it is Mr.Lukad would always glaze at it whenever he got tangled in his thoughts. It was as if it's the tree helps him acquire a solution. The huge branches of it were broad and thick. One can jump from one branch to other. But that's not the case here. Mr. Lukas was not admiring the tree. To be more precise, he was locked at a particular branch of the tree. It was very close to the window. I tried to glaze at it by twisting my waist a bit right. I was seating right in front of Mr.Lukas and the window was on his right so it made it harder for me to look out the window. However, I was able to see slightly more. Only the branch of the tree is visible in my slights. I moved my body to the right a bit and finally was able to see a beautiful nest of a bird out the window. It was made was small leaves and mud. It's a work of an artist. Well, not a human artist but an artist of nature. A mother bird was feeding her six children using her mouth. To make things easy she lowered her head and chewed the food in her mouth for her children. The small chicks were chatting with full volume making their mom aware that they were hungry. Then the mother rose again from the neat and flapped her both wings rising a gust of wind, immediately vanishing into thin air. Her pleasance was important for all the chicks. Without having their amount of food, the chicks wouldn't last for a day. They would die out of hungry. So, the return of their mother is quite essential. Mr. Lukas was having fun gazing at the beautiful sights. I also was enjoying it. The mother would come again holding a worm or insect or even a small substrate of bread and gave away everything to her child. Not a single once she ate it. This course would continue for more than ten minutes times. Truly mother is a warrior. They became invincible fighters for her child.

Both I and Mr. Lukas was admiring this undoubtful moment with our mouth completely shut. It was a quiet day, only the sound of chicks crying could hear. Their half feathered body was vulnerable so they have to stick with one another.

"The love of a mother." All of a sudden Mr. Lukas spoke out. His eyes were still locked at the nest. On the other hand, I had gone back to my place and was currently messing with my phone. I happen to get a message from---

"Can a mother kill their child?"

That came out from nowhere. I swiftly slide my phone back to its respected place and focused on what Mr. Lukas was saying.

"I don't think that's possible. I mean at least in most cases." It was indeed rare to see a mother kill her child unless she was going through stress. I heard something like when the child was born the mother would kill the child became of excessive stress.

"Infanticide?"

[Note: Infanticide (or infant homicide) is the intentional killing of infants. Now universally illegal, infanticide was a widespread practice throughout human history that was mainly used to dispose of unwanted children.--Wikipedia]

"I'm not talking about that. Well, it can be another reason. But I'm saying about other ones."

"I don't think of any other…" People would try to dispose of their unwanted child in most cases. I could say that's might be why a mother wants to kill her child. Well, there's also a case where the mother didn't do that.

"So, do I "

Mr. Lukas averted her face from the nest for the first time in a while. His bright face reflected by the sunlight was shining. He was digging the files that were laid in front of him. His attention got into the case again. However, he again avered her looks onto the branch tree. His lower lip pulled up slightly making a smirk face. I can call that a smirk as his Expression was lacking some. His expression showed a pitiful expression.

I followed his gaze and ended up at the nest.

"It died." He spoke with a sorrowful tone. Finding myself confuse I glazed at all the chicks and found one missing.

"It fell front the nest, the one next to it pushed it." Mr. Lukas made me understand.

"It must be its fate."

"Probably." Then he again went back to his study table and started digging files one after one in hurriedly.
