"Mr.Lukas, how did you get so much information about him? Don't tell that those are obtained illegally?" I asked none other than Mr.Lukas who was currently messing with the files. This is my first time coming to his home. We are seated in his study room. Well, his whole apartment is for study cases. Humorous flies were lying idle from one corner to the other making the entire house messy. Well, as expected from a detective who doesn't understand anything but solving cases. When I got into his car, he unconditionally demanded to visit his home. I wasn't sure he did that but now that I have seen it I understand it more or less. The home of he's is rather a suitable place to investigate or hold a secret meeting.
As I was in thoughts, I saw him leaving his files shattered and grabbed his coat that was hanging. He then shot a glaze at me.
"Get up, we have to make a visit. We can't just waste time here." Without saying where I understood what place he was referring. We then departed in his car that wasn't in good health. I was able to grasp that it hasn't been washed recently. The level of dirt it has is indescribable.
"So, we would find something in there?" I asked while steering the car. Apparently, Mr. Lukas sat on the back rather than the next one beside. Was it intentional?
"That depends on whether or not they would speak up. We can't be certain without meeting them. Look ahead!" I was perplexed by that. I was staring at the mirror in front that way I can talk to him while looking into his eyes until now. I averted my sights from the mirror to the windshield. A huge truck engrossed with commercial materials was running towards us straight. I swiftly turned the steering to the left hand. A strong strike of wind went through me.
"If only he headed straight both you and I would be dead." None other than Mr.Lukss said in a well and composed manner. He pulled out his cigarettes and lighted them calmly. My hands were shaking violently as I was about witness my own death. My widened eyes were only glazing at him. Did he not fear death? Was he an immortal? As I was continuously slamming my head with thoughts, Mr.Lukas nodded with a pleasant smile.
"Life is interesting. Isn't it? You never know what will happen to you. You might be alive tomorrow or not. It all depends on you. How you choose life to be."
"Yea'" I couldn't help but agree with him. He was most certainly right about that. I was sure that I would get killed by that truck a moment ago. We came to this world for a short time of period. In that period anything could happen. It doesn't matter who was, what did you do. If your fate was destined to be a death by a single drop of poison then so would it be?
"Ahhh.." Mr.Lukas made an extraggation sigh as if indicating that he was getting bored I should hurry and make move. I pushed for the accelerator a bit to get going to our designated place.
"What if we find that monster in there, what would you? It's just my curiosity…" I asked an unreasonable question.
"I would kill him without a doubt." He replied intently as if he had made the decision a long time ago. " My gun is fully loaded. Did you take a look at the back of the car? There are heavy weapons and ammunition." So, he came prepared. I wonder if we even find a single clue there. It's not like I doubt Mr.Lukas's Instinction. It's just that I felt like it.
"Don't feel sympathetic towards the monsters, Reyes. They are just trash in this society. We just have to eradicate them as a whole." Mr. Lukas's words were no doubt true. When he got into the topic of them, his eyes sparkles with excitement. It was as if he enjoyed hunting them down.
"Sir, isn't that the girl we found dead in that apartment?" I asked as I saw the picture of that pretty girl on one of the covers in his case files earlier. I was feeling pity for her. She was so young, It's quite unfortunate that she had to die. It made my heart ich thinking about that horrible sight.
"Oh, I found some interesting news about her." After that Mr.Lukas told me about her. It was truly surprising. In her early years, she showed spectacular talents.
"That's not what I expected. I'm truly astonished."
"Well, I was at first." Mr. Lukas nodded in agreement. "But after seeing facts altogether, I ain't surprised at all. It was all connected in one way or another."
I stopped the car and parked in front of the shop named "Good Meat."
"Looks like we have arrived." Mr. Lukas got his gun back into his coat pocket. Until now he was fidgeting with it as if it's a toy.
He got down fast without waiting for me. I had to park a bit neatly so I stayed. After finishing that I pulled out the keys and glanced back to see where Mr.Lukas went. He was talking with a muscular guy that seemed to be the owner of the shop. The shop was small in front. It can't be called a huge store. In my common eyes, it seemed like a decent shop that sells meat. However, Mr. Lukas was eagerly questioning him one after one. They made me a bit curious to go there and eavesdrop a bit. As I went near them, I could see a tense conversation was forming, or at least that was what it seemed. I hurried.
"So, you're saying that Jodan was one of your employees until last month."
"Exactly. Ha ha ha." He laughed, opening his huge mouth.
"So, when exactly? Can give me the exact date?" Mr. Lukas asked with a bit of eagerness.
"Date…." The muscular man looked up at the sky, recalling the date. It was April….No..May.." He muttered a bit. He then grinned back at us while scratching his head. "Sorry, I can't remember."
