Currently, we are in 'Downtown'. This area is where the terrifying murder occurred. As Mr. Lukas and I, were in charge of this case, we had to be here for further investigation. This town is smaller than other areas and that made the monster came here and go without being afraid. This area can be noted as the most unsafe place. For that reason, the prices of rent and diary necessaries are lower than the usual rate. Even if this is not a big place, searching here is troublesome. Besides, the citizen living here were not very cooperative. They would shut the door down as soon as we knocked it. But we have MR. Lukas here, he would always draw out his gun towards the citizen to get their testimony. It's not a good courtesy for detectives to aim at common people.
CPA-4 concludes big cities such as 'Monkey's Resolve', Eyepatch, and some more ones that I couldn't remember. They all have weird names. The interesting fact is that they all are named by dwellers living in them. They have no official names. The citizens calling the cities by their name to make things easy.
If an outsider, I mean from CPA-3 or other continents came to CPA-4 they would have a hard time adjusting it.
Mr. Lukas was flipping a book that was laying on a minute ago. It was some sort of novel. More precisely, a light novel. It was supposed to be the boy's room, the one we saw on the CCTV footage. By now we had conformed to it by interviewing the caretaker of the building. We also tried to talk with other inhabitants but they all seemed to avoid us. Most of the apartments were empty for some unknown reason. Perhaps, people are afraid to live here. The other thing is we found another corpse although it was a suicide. The body was one month old. Thinking about the disgusting smell makes me puke again. Just what's wrong here? Everything is so dark and gloomy atmosphere.
"Found anything worthy?" Mr. Lukas looked at me in curious.
"N-Not yet. All the things have been washed by the water lack last night. Even so, there's hardly any materials that could help the investigation move."
"Yes but no. We have found whatever it left. There might be gold underneath the dirt. Don't give up yet, Reyes."
"He sure had an odd way to motivate people." As I said that I began diving my hands into the pile of books that were fallen from the bookshelf. It was the only thing that was big in this apartment. No matter how I think it, it didn't seem a monster's place for me.
"For a while now, I wanted to ask you about something that kept bothering me."
"Say it out." When Mr. Lukas permitted me to speak out, I became happy as ever.
"The thing is… Is there any chance for them to be good? I mean like humans. There are both bad and good humans among us. Is that possibility can't be applied in them?"
Mr. Lukas shot me a gaze. In that gaze, there was a bit of fury in it. As if I had pissed him off slightly.
"Look Reyes, they are monsters. Think it like this, if a tiger walked in front of a hunter. Will hunter hessite thinking that if the tiger is good or bad? You can't distinguish it because they are the creatures who had intellectuality, to begin with. At most the hunter would shoot down the tiger as he couldn't understand what its real morality is. They are also the same. They are monsters who should be commonly labeled as 'EVIL' They had no morality, to begin with. They are fear of humanity. If you want to save humanity, you have to eradicate every single of them. That's a must."
What MR. Lukas said was perhaps right. But somewhere I felt like there might be good of them or maybe it's just another delusion of mine.
The satan was once an angel. There might be a slight chance of what I believed is right.
The case we are handling is not simple, it involved one of the biggest mafia or should I say a gang of them (Psychopaths). Even Mr. Lukas was getting frustrated finding the culprit. The strings we were pulling didn't reply yet. We just have to wait and see what we could do.
"Reyes! Look, this is something we should send this to the forensic lab." He showed me a pack of empty cup noodles.
"Of course not, Why would you? It's just some vacant cup noodles. I don't think we would able to find anything out of it." Was his mind snapped or something? It's just a trivial matter.
"I'm not talking about that. There's a bunch of blooded tissues hidden underneath the cup noodles." Mr. Lukas was right on point. Indeed, there was a napkin enclosed with blood, it was a lot of them. I could see that it was human blood. This was something unusual in this apartment. Was the boy had hemoptysis.
[Hemoptysis is the coughing up of blood or blood-stained mucus from the bronchi, larynx, trachea, or lungs. In other words, it is the airway bleeding. ]
"Yeah, Let's send it to forensic lap. It might lead to some conclusion." Mr. Lukas didn't hand the napkins first rather he took out his gloves and touched the stained napkin. The next thing he did was gross as hell.
"Sir! Don't!" I tried to stop him but he licked the blood that was on his finger. He closed his eyes and was thoughtful.
After some time soon, he spoke out without opening his sights.
"This is strange. This blood is neither of a human or a monster. Then what is it? If I have to guess this is a mix of both of them. A hybrid!"
"A hybrid? Is that even possible?" That came out of place. There's not the way a mixture of both of them can be made. This sort of thing is only possible in fictional movies. I thought this is just another irrational thinking of Mr. Lukas. I didn't know what happened but Mr. Lukas might have gone mad. His brain cells might have been damaged by the CCTV footage.
"You're thinking I'm a preposterous person. Don't you?" huh? Did he have some mind-reading technique? Or did I speak my mind loud? Whatever it was I'm doomed.
"That's okay. I might be an absurd person with his foolish theories."
"N-No, No!" I didn't know what to do. Why has he suddenly had an emotional breakdown? That was odd. Was it might fault? Shi*t, now I'm starting to blame myself.
