Chapter 33 - Chapter 32

Not everyone seemed to have their priorities straight though as the commoner did what he could to salvage his treasure. I've had enough with these greedy bastards. I just want me and (y/n) out of here. I was burdened by a weight of hopelessness. I glance over at (y/n) who I'm certain had heard the djinn say we may not return.

"No.." she mutters, just faintly. Her eyes start to tear up. This is the first time I'd seen her show any emotion in a long time. But it hurt. Had she found a deep desire to live? Maybe, but she seemed to be thinking the same thing I was. Maybe it was better for us to die here.

I watch as the djinn opens up a portal for the two boys. They run towards it with their treasure but don't quite hop aboard. They stop, turning to face me. My eyes don't leave theirs and my feet move on their own towards them. 'Take me with you,' I beg deep down.

"Hurry up, Mister!" The small boy yells at me. He holds his hand out to me. I want to take it, but something stops me. I glance back at Jamil and (y/n). She looks worried as she stares down at our master who's sobbing in her lap. She doesn't want to leave him behind.

"(y/n)!" I call out to her. When her eyes meet mine she shakes her head.

"Just leave him, and you'll be free!" Alibaba shouts towards us. "He's treated you horribly!"

'He doesn't know the least of it.' I feel my heart clench and pound as I remembered how he'd beaten me, and even more when I thought of her. All the hate I had for Jamil filled me up. I wonder if she was remembering the same things as me right now. That awful, disgusting, horrible man! I glare at him, oh I wish I had the guts to punch him right now! I want her to follow me out of here, but I know I had to convince myself first. I feel my hand shakily reaching for Jamil. He's still my master; he still controlls me. Sweat drips down my face and the back of my neck. I grab (y/n), pulling her up with me. "Let's get out of here."

She follows me without being dragged along, but Jamil calls out to her. "(y/n)." She stops in her tracks, unable to move. He reaches out, grabbing the rim of her skirt. Grasping a chunk of it in his trembling hands. "Down leave me.."

Her face is filling up with tears, and I know she's conflicting with herself.

She manages to take a step forward. "(Y/N)!" He pulls her clothes roughly, knocking her to the ground. "What makes you think you can leave me?! You will always be mine! Mine! Mine! Mine!" He pulls her body towards him, "You useless brat! You're lucky to even have me! You think anyone else is ever gonna want someone like you!" His voice is shaking as he screams at her. He wraps his arms around her, a strong grip keeping her captive. "No one.. but me.." He runs a hand through her hair. "Come on, (y/n). Be a good girl won't you? I promise I'll be nice. How could I not be?" He leans into the crook of her neck, the breath of his lips trailing along the surface of her skin. "I love you. I'm the only one who can. So stay. Please stay here with me..."

I manage to pull her from his grasp, glaring down at him. I can't say anything though, because even I believe him. He controlls us after all. But I won't stand for him to talk to her, to touch her, like that. (y/n)'s shaking uncontrollably, but she reaches out to Jamil. "Come with us, Master."

Before Jamil can take her hand though Goltas appears between us, knocking us back a few steps. "Goltas.." I whisper. He was alive.

"We can't let a man like him escape." I'm even more surprised that he can talk. Before I could ask any more questions or beckon him to come with us though he intervenes. "Neither should I. I can't let myself go back. Not after all the lives I've killed for him." He glances down at Jamil who doesn't say a word. He probably isn't even paying attention. Because he'd lost it. Every last ounce of sanity he had was gone. "Even if I could go home, I cannot face my tribe. But you can. Go home Morgin. Take (y/n) and leave, that's my final wish. Live and be free. You are no longer bound by any chains." He raises his sword and shatters both mine and (y/n)'s chains. "Hurry now, before there's no longer a chance."

I pick (y/n) up and sprint to the portal, hopping on just as it's time to go. The dungeon is collapsing, but I can see Goltas leaving with Jamil in his arms. I can hear Jamil's voice and see the details on his face. (y/n) must have been able to as well. He was talking to our savior, our friend, about how he was going to reward everyone, all the slaves. With rewards he no longer had, naming slaves whose deaths we had witnessed earlier today. He seems to not even realize he's in the dungeon a few times. So he really did go crazy. But he's no longer shaking in fear, as if everything was fine. Briefly, I hear pass from his lips the words "Where's (y/n)?" And from the corner of my eye, I see tears swell up in the girl's eyes and a faint gasp leave her lips. But why? He'd treated us horribly. I guess these chains weren't so easily broken.
