The citizens were hastily making their way to the place where they believed they would find their safety. This was their last hope and heroes were making a way for them, but even so, the howls of vampires reached to their ears, scratching their hearts with fear.
" Leni, quickly. We are almost there!"
The man shouted, looking at the distant light with light in his eyes. His heart quickened as he heard the howls getting closer to them, but they were so close to the outskirts where the army stationed their troops. As long as they reach that place, they will be safe.
" Father, I can't my legs are acting."
The young girl begged with a desperate face. The man put the girl on his back, dashing to the empty building across the street to avoid their eyes.
He quickly took out a bottle of water from his pocket, and handing it to his daughter even though his throat was parched.
" Father, can we see mommy again?"
The young girl asked, looking at her father with curiosity in her eyes. The man bit lips his with sadness as he gently caressed her head.
" Mommy is gone to the far land. She said we had to go here."
He then picked her up again and proceeded to run. However, the reality was harsh as the vampires jumped down from the roofs of the building right before them.
" Well, well. Hand over the girl, old man. I don't like drinking old blood."
The vampire demanded his daughter with a smirk on his face. His cruel laughter angered the man as he roared toward the group while grabbing the stick on the ground. He swung the stick with great force, hoping it would hurt them, but the vampire laughed as he grabbed his hand.
" You are a fool to believe that humans can kill vampires."
Right after he finished his words, a man came rushing down to them. He silently looked at them and saw the girl who was crying while her unconscious father.
"Fortunately, I have made it right time."
He grabbed his shield from his behind, throwing it to the stone walls which bounced it with great energy. The shield seemed to be alive as it cleanly took them without any problem.
The vampires couldn't do anything except for watching their friends fall before them one by one. The sheer difference between their physical ability and experience was enough to be one-sided massacre.
" Are you alright, child? Hold on, I will call her for you."
Steve walked toward the duo with a warm gaze. He placed the girl on his shoulder while carrying the man in his arms. It looked very funny and bizarre at the same time, but one could tell the girl's admiration for Steve. His heroic face and moves gave a deep impression on her young mind.
" Captain, are they survivors?"
The young soldier hastily ran to Steve, observing the duo with pity in his eyes. He saw the hell in this place and he understood many lost their families here. Thus, he believed they were the same since he could see the father was injured and the girl was dirty from escape.
" Take them to the camp and inspect them. Make sure they reach a safe place, youngling."
Steve patted his shoulder, putting down the girl and the father. He glimpsed at his watch, calculating the remaining minutes while heading back to the city with a grim face.
Meanwhile in the center of the city
The allied army and Eden force held against the rampaging waves of vampires that tried to either escape or kill them. Their main goal was to secure a route for people and create an opening for Solomon who was preparing for his spell.
" Lord Vision, the third line has been breached!"
The commanding officer shouted while holding the radio. Vision who was flying above them, nodded at him as he headed toward the third line. He saw the young soldiers desperately trying to push the vampires away, but the mad vampires were attacking them like there was no tomorrow.
" Fall back! I will take this. Get back to Lord Paris!"
Vision commanded them, roasting the vampires with his laser beam. He ripped the heart of a vampire and continued to kill them.
