Chapter 399 - Chapter 36 In an hour

The airforce was deployed by the order of the general. Arthur had instructed them to clear out the way for the ground force so that they can accomplish their goal.

" All units drop the packages. We are grilling bears tonight."

The pilot captain said lightly. He looked at the red button and pressed it down.

Buzz*

The giant bomb was dropped down from a high altitude. There was no way the Soviets could use their anti-aircraft gun because their maneuver was perfectly matched and they were too swift. Unlike standard war tactics where they continuously bomb the enemy line, this was only a single-wave bombing. However, this wasn't the end of the story.

Sizzle*

The ground was burning with straight lines. They didn't just use normal bombs or missiles, they also used one of the most fatal weapons that could be used against the enemy lines.

Napalm was invented in 1940 by Harvard University scientists and the USA used it on Japanese force on 15 February 1944. Napalm is an incendiary mixture of a gelling agent and a volatile petrochemical (usually gasoline or diesel fuel).

Furthermore, it obstructed the efficiency of enemy forces as the east wing was in chaos. The ground unit used guerilla tactics and almost annihilated the entire east wing.

Meanwhile, Tanya was sneaking into the enemy supply base with 10 or so people. They were wearing similar vests like Arthur which could reflect light and cause distortion.

" Plant the C4s in their bases. Set timer to 5 minutes. Remember, you have only 5 minutes to escape."

They quickly dispersed into the enemy base. Tanya took out her pistol and walked into the base. The soviet base was completely different from their base. It was tightly guarded and the entire base was made of metal to minimize the damage if something accidental happens.

This couldn't stop her. Tanya took out her bombs and placed them on the walls which seemed pretty tough, but there was a reason for it.

She was planning to demolish the building and it was the best way to do that. Logically, skeletal structures would be the hardest part of the building, but there was a loophole in anything.

Tanya drew out a metal casket and opened it.

Swoosh*

She felt coldness in her hand. This was a special type of liquid nitrogen for the purposes like infiltration and demolition. She quickly dipped the spoon like thing.

Brizzle*

Tanya then smeared it on the pillar. Strangely, the liquid nitrogen froze the area where it was smeared over.

Crack*

She placed the bomb near to it because it was too cold and the bomb would fail if it gets too close to it.

1 hour later.

Arthur was standing on the field where the battle was over. He looked at the pile of corpses and remains of other things.

It wasn't pleasant at all. He saw dying soldiers and injured people who were missing one or two limbs.

Arthur turned his head as he looked at the colonel.

" Battlefield is a cruel place. One misstep could spell your ending like this colonel. I have seen countless situations like this where people wail with grief and sorrow just because of the decision of a few people."

The colonel couldn't say anything because he was right. He raised his head and cooled down his thoughts.

" Here is our report about the casualties. We have lost 165 men in this battle even though we had an overwhelming victory."

He said with sadness in his voice. Arthur's face darkened a little at the news. He knew there would be casualties in the war even though they had overwhelming power. He sighed with a heavy face.

" Record their names down. They were brave warriors who defended their home country."

Colonel saluted and walked away.

Step*

Arthur sat down on the ground and he inhaled the air filled with smoke.

Sit*

Tanya sat next to him as she peeked at his expression. She saw Arthur's helplessness and acceptance on his face.

" Hey, you did great. Don't try to blame yourself."

She said with a light tone.

Arthur smiled and shrugged his shoulders. He looked up to the sky.

" Tanya, do you believe in fate? I don't because I changed my fate once in the past."
