Chapter 3 - His Story

"Hello, Cammie." My supposedly dead father said to me. I was dumbstruck, I couldn't say anything for a moment. Until I finally said, "It's you."

"The only in the flesh." He replied after he chuckled.

"You're all probably wondering why I'm here and how I'm alive," Dad said as we all just stood there like statues freshly carved and we noded.

"Well, I faked my death to keep everyone safe. And I went on the run, laying low." He paused. "While I was on the run I met Catherine. " He paused again. "And I fell in love with her." I turned to my right to see Zach and Townsend shaking white with silent furry. To my right, Abby and my roommates looked like they could kill dad. Me. Well, I was just betrayed. After a long silence, my father spoke up and said, "I joined the Circle." "I... " Before he could finish his sentence Abby launched herself at him and gave him a good- old fashioned slap round the face. Her handprint became indented onto the left side of his face. Dad looked shocked,  dazed even, the furry erupted inside him as he howled, "I DID THIS TO PROTECT YOU, RACHEL AND  CAMMIE!" Then it all becomes too much for me and I yelled, "NO IT DIDN'T!" Everyone looked at me as my eyes lit with hatred and anger at the very person I once hailed as a hero.

"What?" My father whispered taken back by my outburst.

"You didn't protect us,  because you left us to think you were dead then joined the very terrorist organisation YOU KNEW were hunting me down!" I felt rising with anger with every word as I continued and said, "and now you suddenly return, tell us this and expect us not to be angry? Expect us to be happy families? Expect us not to be betrayed?  "

"I did it to protect you!" My father whisper-shouted.

"I don't call this protecting. I call this betrayal!" I replied and stormed upstairs, slammed the door shut, flung myself onto my bed and cried.

Five minutes and 45 seconds later I heard the door open and my roommates walked in and sat around me on my bed that I claimed earlier that day.

"Hey Cam, Liz said softly it's just us girls, Zach wanted to come in but we told him that we should have some girl time." I looked up at Liz whose eyes were filled with worry and concern, so I just smiled and sat up in my bed and said, "Wanna have a movie marathon?" I looked at them and they nodded so I turned to my right side and pulled out a bag full of DVD'S that I smuggled from school (What you never know when you want to watch a movie, like now.)

"OK, the are all comedies, which I think we should watch, because we need something to make us laugh," I stated.

"Yeah." My best friends agreed in unison.

After ten minutes worth of arguing we finally decided on Playing with Fire. Once we made popcorn we settled on my bed and started the film.

One hour and thirty-six minutes later, we were crying with laughter, then Liz screamed as she toppled off the bed causing us to erupt into more fits of laughter as Zach burst into our room to see us dying with laughter. Just as Zach was about to say something then a gunshot rang out in the distance causing all traces of laughter to size. We all shot up and slipped some trainers on and raced down the marble stairs only to grind to a halt in the doorway as I watched the horror unfold before my roommates and Zach's eyes...
