Chapter 13 - The Realm

Akirai strood, with the larvea in her arms. "Well, off to the Realms we go, what do you Lynn?"

Lynna, or Lynn made no move, so she took it as a yes. "Sylvie, Realm options please."

"Well, that´s a lot to choose from." Akirai commented as she clicked the Expansion button next to the No-grade Realms and was rewarded with a full window of choices, she saw an arrow at the bottom, she clicked on it and a new page shot out.

She did the same with the Bronze-grade and once again was shown a full page of options, she saw that at the bottom there was an arrow, but unlike before, there was a number next to it, it showed a 2, she clicked it and the small number at the top that she had missed before popped to a 2, below, the arrow remained unchanged, but instead of a number 2, there was now a 3.

It seemed that the higher the rank, the more options to choose from.

"What does it cost, how long doeas it last?" She mused and Sylvie answered. "No-grades cost a Point each and last as long as the Host wishes to, or Points and revivals run out, Bronze-grades cost 10 Points, Silver-grade costs 50 Points."

"How many Points do I have again?" Akirai asked, still sitting in the nursery.

"Host currently has...58 Points." Sylvie answered. "Alright Sylvie, give me the No-grade first, the Forest if you will?" Akirai said.

"As you wish, but I would recommand forming a Packt with your new Companion first." She sugguested and Akirai heeded her word.

"Lynn, love?" She asked, the little thing in her arm perked up at the mention of her name. "I will form a Packt with you now, okay?"

The larvea in her arms raised it´s head at her and Akirai smiled gently as she set it down on the ground gently and pricked her finger with the knife stored in her boots, she then pressed her finger on it´s small- well rather big forehead and closed her eyes, imagining a contract, blood red in colour with golden print levitating in a vast, black empty space, lit by unseen candles.

The contract went up in flames, the little larvea had entered a packt, or contract, with her.

Just as discribed on the forum, Akirai could feel the emotions of her new Beast, the new presence in her mind was so small, she nearly didn´t feel it, it was very veeble and small, like a small candle in a gust of wind.

Her face lit up as she snuggled closer to her companion.

"Alright! Sylvie? Let´s go!" Akirai chirped, and they were gone, from one second to the other, the stable became empty.

-------------------------------

Just like the name of the Realm sugguested, the place she landed in was a vast , lush and dense forest, the floor was covered in plants, flora and fauna of all sorts, the trees were big, most of them were 50 meters tall, some trees were even 60 meters tall, and she saw a few trees that could very well be a hundred meters tall, as she couldn´t see the top from the ground, most of them were 40-50 meters tall, some smaller some bigger.

But just like the No-rank indicated, these trees were not the biggest now-a days, evenbefore the rifts appeared the Sequia sempervirens or the California redwood or coastal redwood was the tree species that included the tallest trees on earth, growing a hundred meters tall- without the roots, and while now-a days, a hundred meter tree was still considered a giant, it was far from the tallest, the farther you went out into the Wilds, into the Zones, the bigger and deadlier the vegitation became, along with the Beasts.

Akirai was directly on guard, unsure of what Beast inhabited this place, logicly this place should be consisting of No-rank Beasts with the few Bronze-rank Beast inbetween, but she wasn´t sure if the System followed the same rules as the world outside.

"Host will find only No-ranked monsters in here, but be warned that there might be Mutants that might be on par with Bronze-ranked Beasts, they are the Kings of this Realm, I would like to remind you to take along plants that you see, while in the Realms you have an inventory of 20 cubic meters for use." Sylvie informed her Host patiently.

"Hol´ up, can I only store plants in there? Can I also store corpses of Beasts in here?" Akirai asked Sylvie, tilting her head, Lynn mimicing her, nearly falling out of her embrace, Akirai had to fumble for a bit to catch and readjust her partner in her arms.

"Yes, Host can do this- be warned, this function currently only works inside the System generated Realms." Sylvie reminded Akirai who nodded to show that she understood.

"Alright, so here is how this will go, I will hunt a few Beasts and incapitate them so that Lynn can finish them off and practise and ...wait, can Lynn do anything?" Akirai suddenly felt stupid, could larvea attack?

"... Host... *sigh* Yes Lynn can bite... but that´s all." Sylvie said, with a hint of resignation, her Host was normally so smart and quick on the uptake, what happened here? Was her Host too excited and forgot?

"Oh good, thank you, Sylvie." Akirai said apologetically, rubbing the back of her neck with her free hand in embarrassment, a slight red tint to her cheeck showing her embarrassment.

Akirai was so distracted, she didn´t even notice the fact that Sylvie had sighed.

With that akward situation dealt with, Akirai began her hunt for Beasts.

It took her a while to find one, and when she did, she found an Iron-backed Boar, A No-rank.

Sylvie didn´t show her a status screen without prompting, but when Akirai asked her too, not a second went by before she got her request.

[Iron backed Boar]

[Level 3]

[Gender : Male]

[Wild]

[State : Healthy (Content)]

"Well looky there, our first prey of the day." Akirai said.

"Shall we then?" She asked no one, setting Lynn down with a pat when she didn´t settle and took out the combat knife from her boot, she crept towards a bush closer do the boar and hid in it, waiting a bit, she´d attack from behind, made it easier for her, and harder for him.
