Now that classes are over I won't be returning to the Haryeth school for at least a year if not more. Ms.Levina told me that I would be staying with Kade at his residence for the entirety of the internship. But today is just a formality, an introduction so moving in today isn't necessary.
There is however one thing I need to do before I head over to meet my new "boss". I take the train to Rai's apartment not too far from the Haryeths main facility. I walk up the steps leading to his apartment door. I knock on the door a little less than subtle.
"Rai it's me open up" I call out as I continue to knock much louder than I know is necessary. He hates when I do this because it always riles up his cat, Raven. Honestly Raven is a sweetheart. I honestly might like her more than Rai himself. The door opens abruptly in the middle of my knocking.
"Good God woman what on earth is the need for you to bang on my door every time you come over here?" Unlike me, Rai grew up in England so his accent is much heavier than mine. After an accident with his family, Rai was orphaned at age five. After seven years of living alone on the streets of the city, he was found by the Haryeth and taken in. A year later he met me and brought me to the very same people who saved him. I however was raised in Japan by my parents until we came to England for my father's work when I was seven. A work trip that never came to an end.
"There really is no other need other than the fact that it annoys you" I laugh lightly as I walk into his apartment. The lovely miss Raven sitting on the couch in the living room paying no one any mind at all.
"Well I found out who I will be doing my internship with, actually that's where I'll be going after I leave here," I tell him as I sit on the living room couch and take Raven into my lap. I stroke her black fur and she begins to purr lowly in my lap. Her green and yellow eyes looking up at me.
"Well don't keep me in suspense tell me who it is" Rai demands as he takes the seat across from me. His green eyes meeting my blue ones.
"It's Kade," I tell him bluntly. Rai has never had the desire to become a soldier, even though his physical ability is super strength and reflexes. He may have been saved by an organization that provides protectors for society. But even though Rai was saved he never forgot how much he struggled because of the way society saw him. So let's just say he's never been keen on the idea of being its protector.
This also means he has his own opinion on those who choose to fight to protect those who would never do the same for us. It took him a while to get used to the idea after I told him I was to train to become a soldier.
"Really the bird I mean I can imagine you getting worse options but that guy is the definition of a soldier. He's such a stiff. He never does anything if he isn't ordered to do it. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Levina picks out his outfits for him." I laugh at Rai's brutal assessment of my future boss.
Rai has trained me. Been my friend, My family. He's even the one who taught me to draw. Which led to my love of painting. When I was still undergoing my training Rai was really the only one who could keep me from losing control. It was a dangerous position for him to be in and yet still he never abandoned me. He's my family, he has been since the day I was left alone in this world.
"Rai Astor?! You can't say those things about my future employer... No matter how true they may turn out to be." I laugh out and he soon joins my laughter. We continue to laugh over our own judgments for a few more moments before we both collect ourselves.
"Well, Before you head to meet him at least go into my room and grab some of the clothes you've left here and change out of that uniform. I wouldn't want to intern someone who looked like that" He gestures to my school-issued uniform. A long knee-length skirt and a plain white button-up.
"Well I didn't really have a choice in the matter," I say in fake offensive as I head down the short hallway to his room where a drawer full of my clothes that I've left here over the years are kept. I pull out a fitted black tee and blue jeans and slip them on. I slip on my black boots with a four-inch heel on them. I put on a jacket over my tee and pull my hair over it. I make one last check in the mirror before walking back into the living room with Rai and Raven.
"Much better, now good luck and don't be too nervous. It's about time you get out into the world anyway" Rai tells me as he walks me to the door. I give him a quick hug at the door before heading to the nearest underground station and board the next train to the address I was provided by the school on where to meet Kade.
When I arrive at the address it looks a lot like an estate. I'm guessing that this is Kade's home residence. It's a pretty extensive walk from the main gate to the front door. I buzz the button at the main gate, but I was met with no response. I was beginning to think that no one was here. But a moment later the gate began to open.
I started to walk towards the front door. It was a good five-minute walk before I reached the front door. Once I arrived I knocked on the large front door a good five feet taller than I was. After a few seconds, the large door began to open. Once the door was open a man with blonde hair and the most interesting brown almost golden eyes stood in front of me. We stood in silence for a few moments. The silence was comfortable, enough.
"Come in miss Alani"...
