When I was a kid I was super into shows and cartoons with superheroes in them. I wanted so badly to get superpowers and save people, but I, of course, never got them and I got into fights a lot. The parents of my classmates hated me and so their feelings rubbed off on their children and they did too. I had friends at that time Lucy, Alex, and Jonathan. They cheered me on when I got into fights, and we'd play and we made up a game where one of us was the ruler and the others would have to bring little offerings, usually cool sticks and pretty rocks but sometimes we'd find a bottle cap or an abandoned toy. If the ruler was not satisfied then they would chase down the other players and wrestle.
Then in middle school, they joined the other social circles. The ones that would tease me. My old friends joined in on the teasing, they would help write on my desk, rip up my school work, and fill my bag with dirt, whipped cream, and other messy things. I'd get pissed and yell, they would snicker. I beat any kid up that I thought did it and for some reason, I'd never thought it was them, it never crossed my mind that my childhood best friends would betray me like that. I only figured out it was them on the last day of middle school when a girl who was going to a different high school than the rest of us told me and I beat up my betrayers. I ended up in the principal again, my parents were called and apologized to the parents of the many children I hurt. My parents were not happy that my father had to leave work because of me, after all the apologizing my father went back to work and my mother drank till she couldn't anymore. My mother beat me especially hard that night, at that time I lived with my biological parents. That same year I went into foster care and I ended up with the parents I can truly call mom and dad.
I turn onto my side and trace the patterns on the same orange color sheets as the whole school. The orange wasn't a burn-your-eyes-out bright orange but a calm-glow-from-a-fire orange. Mr. Plantagenet (the principal, he told me his name after everything) gave me a schedule, locker number and code, map, and some other papers. I rushed to my dorm room to find my suitcases neatly sitting on the bed along with pajamas. Students could choose to stay in a two-person or a one-person dorm room and because I transferred later in the year I got a single-person dorm room.
I turned around in a circle to take in my surroundings, the dorm room had a closet, desk, bed, and an empty bookcase. All the essentials for a high school dorm really.
I started to unpack my various things, I put my clothes beside the freshly provided uniforms, my novels, my manga, my little trinkets and souvenirs, and my limited edition Buniko figurine. And now I'm sweaty, yay! I take off my t-shirt and pants and toss them onto my desk chair with my leather jacket and slip on the pajamas nicely laying on my bed.
I push the suitcases off and pass out on my bed.
