Chapter 1 - The Cycle (Short Story)

30th of December 2020

In a simple yet beautiful home that was as quiet as can be. In a room painted bluer than the sky, where the warmth of the sun could be felt in even the coldest little crevice. In a place where the doors creak open as if celebrating with laugher at the start of a new beginning. There in the snug and coziness of the bed which had been left warmed by the previous day, had begun to cool. As the floorboards creaked in agony, the ceiling now being cooled by the sun's warm yawn, now fading into slumber had been inspired and as if directed the front door whistled in delight the roof had sung its enchanting evening song. Now all laid still as if by order, the room felt cold, and the floorboards seemed to shiver as the doors squealed while they waited for the cycle to repeat. All had been returned to a still and quiet state. A shadow darker than a human eye could perceive stalked the house in a subtle and yet disturbing manner while maintaining its presence known here and there as if in fear of being forgotten. Then out of nowhere the door slammed open as a young yet mature looking child entered, the deadening sound of the shadows screech spread through the ordinary looking home. The child's emotions steadily increasing in malicious nature had begun to morph into a state of pure rage, leaking out of him. As he stood above the corps of his adoptive father his rage spiking and giving of a pitch-black glow of anger and frustration, his facial features now arched into sharp firm positions, he led out a demonic roar. Finally, after his anger had sufficed his eyes began seeping out bloodlust and his hair gave way to two demonic horns, thanks to his grief and anger. Now as he fell on his knees in teers his demonic form fading, his horns now crumbling, his anger subsiding and features had become those of a young boy grieving for his loss. The next day as the brightness of the sun forced his eyes open, he awoke to his surprise outside of his home which was now in ruins, he left as quickly as he had arrived knowing only a little about the true power that had been awakened, now laid dormant once again within his body, mind and soul.
