All my life I have always felt different. My parents have these amazing powers that I could never have. When I go to school I always get called freak, crippled, or an outcast. They're probably right. I always wondered why I never got powers, and I've always hated myself for it.

I can't stand not being able to fight on my own. I feel so useless...

3 YEARS LATER...

My name is Raven. I'm 16 years old, and I go to Super Storm High. You're probably wondering why I go to a high school full of elites. (Elites are another name for people with powers.) My parents thought it would be best for me. They didn't want to be the only elite family to send their daughter to a "normal high school." I've alway felt out of place even with my parents. They don't understand how hard it is to be the only person to not have powers in the whole school. When I try to tell them about the bullying they brush it off saying it's not a big deal, so I try not to talk about it. I know I'll always get the same answer.

My mom came barging into my room saying, "Raven you need to hurry up or you are going to be late for school." I ask my mom to give me a ride to school because it's snowing pretty bad. "No Raven. " but it's snowing like crazy I say." Raven you need to stop being so selfish and learn how to do things on your own. You'll be fine walking, and I don't want you driving my car. I can't have my baby put in your hands." I roll my eyes at that remark. "Did you just roll your eyes? My mom reaches over and slaps me in the face with her super strength, but all I can do is look at her. "I'm done with having a daughter like you. Why couldn't I get someone with powers. Huu? Why you." I have learned to just let her use me as a punching bag, because I know it won't make it any better if I end up saying something back. "Go to school already. I can't stand looking at you any longer." My mom walks out the door and scoffs. " You're such a disgrace." With that I grab a jacket, my backpack, and lunch heading to school.

As I get to school I see people laughing, having a good time while others are in the arena practice their powers. I should have mentioned that in my school there's not one level of power, and that's why we have ranks to determine who is the strongest. Their ranks of powers start highest as the King or Queen. The mid rank is Duke or Jack. The low rank is either a knight or serpent. The reason why there are two names for each rank is because each rank is split up into two groups. They can either score high in the rank or score low, but then there's me. The crippled who is useless to the school.

RAVEN!!! I turn around to see the two people who've alway been by my side. I see my boyfriend Tyler, and my best friend Cara. I smile, and run there way. Cara looks at me and says, "Raven, did you see me practicing earlier." "No I actually just got here what happened." You should've seen Cara. She totally kicked Karen's (LOL. I'm sorry I had to.) butt." Tyler says. I can't help, but laugh. I smile widely and say, " Well that's not a surprise, you and Karen are in the Queen rank. I've alway had a feeling that you were stronger than her. Know that I'm proud of you. I give her a little punch on the arm. Just as I say that Karen walks down the hall degrading everyone she sees. She then walks up to a kid who is in the low rank and starts making fun of him. It goes on for a while, but then she hits the kid in the head telling him to bow at her feet. I then look at Cara. She looks at me confused. I looked away and walked towards Karen. I could hear Tyler and Cara yelling my name, but I didn't care. All I cared about is taking care of Karen. As I walk up to her she looks at me with disgust. "What do you want you stupid crippled." I give her a glare and say, "Why do you think you have the right to treat people like this. This is wrong and you know it." She takes her focus off of the other kid and puts it on me. "What did you just say to me? I can do whatever I want. Just because you have your little friend to back you up doesn't mean you can talk to me like that. Got it." I just stare at her and think of all the possible outcomes that come with my next sentence. I still didn't care what she said, and I have to say it. "You don't get to tell me what to do you bitch. I don't care who you think you are. You shouldn't treat people like slaves just because you're a higher rank than them." I could tell that hit a nerve. I could see her eyes turn blue and ice came from her hands. She started to shoot ice at me, but luckily I knew self defense and dodged all of her attacks. Karen, Tyler, and Cara looked at me surprised. "Pfff whatever, I'm not dealing with this anymore." Karen walks away, and doesn't look back. The bell rang and everyone left to go to class. Cara and Tyler tried to stop me, but I left and went to class.

LUNCH TIME....

Classes have been boring, and I am really hungry. Luckily it's almost lunch time, so I pulled through. Finally the bell rang for lunch, and I usually eat lunch with Tyler and Cara. I ran to Tyler's class to get him, but I wish I didn't. I headed into the classroom, and I could hear him talking to his friend. I stood right behind him and shushed his friend, because I wanted to hear what he had to say.

"I'm going to break up with Raven." What? Why would you do that? "She doesn't have any powers, and she's making me look bad." As he said that my heart sank into my stomach, but that's not the worst part. "She's so useless she can't even stay away from trouble. I don't know why I am dating her. I have been with her for so long. Her parents think of her as a disgrace, and I can see why." I then tap him on the shoulder. I could feel tears fall from my cheeks. I was so hurt, because he was one of the only people that I was close to. He turns around with a smile, but when he sees me his smile disappears and is replaced with wide eyes. "RAVEN!!! Di- did you hear that." I look into his eyes and say, "so has this whole time been a lie." I tried to hold back my tears, but I couldn't help it. "I thought you cared about me, but I guess I was wrong." I try to walk out of the classroom, but he grabs my wrist. "Raven wait!!!" I look back at him "Why? So you can tell me that I'm just a waste of space, and don't deserve to live." My blood was boiling at this point. "What, no I just want to talk. I'm sorry I didn't mean it." Is he kidding me right now. "No you're not. You're just sorry you got caught." Tyler lets go of my arm and he glares at me. "Well it's your fault if you weren't such a crippled, and could actually be something I wouldn't have said that." After he said that to me I snapped.
