Synopsis

Chapter 1 - DIDN’T CONFORM

Mom and Dad just didn't know

What to make of their lesbian daughter.

They felt something was wrong early on,

And set about to change her.

Lots of ribbons lace and bows,

Put her in the kitchen and make sure she knows,

Home economics, make sure she sews, get her a doll

And work on her maternal instinct.

Something's wrong, she doesn't conform,

She makes decisions on her own,

Look how she dresses, now that she's grown.

Arrange some therapy, she must go.

If my child is sick I must know.

Doctor says I'm fine, Don't waste your money,

Don't tax your minds.

She's a lesbian and you will be fine.

Can I make YOU an appointment?

Mom was not convinced,

And took up the Bible to make her point.

"You're here for procreation she said."

"It's not natural what I see,

Loving a women's day living happily,

Where are my grandchildren?"

I'm so glad I didn't conform.

To live a lie would only do me harm.

You see that lifestyle is not natural for me.

I was born a lesbian and a lesbian I will always be.

Mom went to her grave loving me

But understanding me not.

Pops alive and he still thinks I've got a problem.

I'm hell bound he says if you don't change your ways.

I pray for him everyday, for he is so judgmental.

Does this sound familiar?

Did you encounter such changes?

Did you come out whole,

Or did you compromise your soul?

I did not, and I am happy and fulfilled.

I know my God and I know his will.

That I live my life and I live it in peace.

Over the years my peace has increased.

I walk in the sunshine holding my head High,

Feeling good and glad that I

DIDN'T CONFORM.
