Chapter 35 - 35 - The guy and the brown Mangani

The forest. Curt.

"How do I start?"

The guy said sieving his options. He was thinking dearly of what to say but had no idea how to make the ape understand. He didn't know how to speak the language of an ape. Forget the fact that the brown Mangani was of a great heart and was quite different from the other ones he had met, what was the point if he couldn't communicate with it?

He was trying to be patient with his mental ken but that would take him nowhere. He had no patience for that. But he was helpless too.

The Mangani was seated with its back to the base of one of the large trees. There was a cave opposite where he was standing.

He was directly adjacent to the Mangani. He hadn't even had the courage to leave the spot he had been standing on since they had arrived there. He also wanted to know what would be in the cave but how would he explain that too.

He could just walk there and figure it out all by himself, but how about if the Mangani referred to that as violation and smothering of privacy?

He observed. What he had been doing before he had been able to wield those few words.

Twas quite obvious that the Mangani was caring and was considerate of him.

The tiger the ape had killed had been borne by it there.

It had had its portion of the meat but knew that the fellow wouldn't be able to eat the raw meat.

He had watched the Mangani go into the cave and brought out a kinda stone he had never seen.

It had hit the stone twice against the woods he had place the remains of the tiger on it. It did a last scraping as a tongue of fire danced its way to life.

The ape had taken the roasted meat away from the fire with his bare hands and without wrenching.

But the tongues of fire were still tracing their dark dribbles. That made quite a huge sense.

Since then had the ape been sitting at the base of the tree waiting for the fellow to eat from the portion it had cut out for him.

He had simply been standing. He needed more than that. His business was urgent though he sent himself.

He had just been curious, he wanted to know who that ape was and why had it been helping them.

Why it was not in an alliance with the psychotic black Manganis.

He noticed that since the ape had finished eating, roasting and putting his own portion down for his take, it had had its face to the mouth of the cave.

It didn't for once look at the guy. So, the guy had been trying to get the ape to look at him as well as communicate.

He knew that he wouldn't win the ape in such way. He left where he was to get the meat.

He took few bites. Twas sapid. He loved it.

After eating, he returned to where he was. There was no water. He was thinking of what to do.

Then the Mangani stood up and walked again to the cave and came out with water in what looked like a bowl carved from the thick bark of some tree.

But as the Mangani stepped out, the guy was no longer there. Neither under the tree nor in sight.

He was at the top of one of the trees. He wanted to figure out how smart the Mangani was.

That could just be a step in communicating with it.
