Chapter 66 - War-torn Battlefield

The next day he woke up without a care in the world. The town was now basically under his control and he has already put plans in motion to slowly increase the empires reputation within the town.

Although he doesn't need sleep, he still finds pleasure in it, especially after enduring a long journey. So, he continues to rest embraced by his women's naked body's sandwiching him in the middle, waiting for the rest to wake up before he starts his day.

He only spent a few days in the town, just like he planned. Although it was only 2 days, he managed to get a lot done. He had all the leaders of each group bring him their information and alter it according to his plans, found and recruited many war veterans who where injured or cast out from the army and made them either teachers for his sect or healed as best he could and sent them to become pawns in his brotherhood of blood.

As for the orphans, under the begging eyes of his women he ended up accepting all the orphans within the city and some of the family's that are near homeless. The size of his sect increased massively but he can afford to do so now, because of the resources he can now mass produce and his recent upgrade to stage 2 increase the size of his world by a very large amount.

Like normal the children and those with talent became sect disciples, while the family members either too old, crippled or don't have enough resolve became servants and workers who did physical labour like tending to farms, making clothes, office work.

The number of orphans/people he took in stunned him a little as opposite to the towns relatively small size there where over 30,000 people he took in. 20,000 where orphans, while the rest where a mix of ex-fighters and poor families.

He obviously did other things such as check out the local sights like the war-torn battle fields surrounding the town, any local food items and buy up all the decent ranked resources.

His departure caused as much gossip as his entrance with the small house sized carriage being pulled by an equally large bear left the town and headed in the direction of the Xiangling empires border.

The closer they got to the border the more the land scape changed. The mild woodland climate rapidly changed to a hotter more tropical one. The pine forests where being replaced with larger more vibrant trees. The atmosphere slowly getting a bit more humid with a slight bit of moisture in the air.

Winter had been over for a few months but it was still cold in the Fenzung empire with snow still in parts of the forests, yet right now there was no snow in sight and the ground itself was become greener.

As cultivators the heat didn't affect them at all but due to an almost instinctive reflex of being an ex-gamer, he still brought out a rune powered air conditioning unit to get rid of his nemesis, the heat. Cooling down the carriage, even though it wasn't necessary.

It took them a full week to reach the border and the surrounding environment has now completely changed to a tropical wonderland. They would marvel at its sights but recently more and more of the land started to have a reddish hue, with bits of scrap metal starting to stick out the ground.

He didn't want to deal with the border soldiers stationed by either side so he took a detour through the old battle field. At first, he didn't notice the changes but they got more and more prominent and the Qi in the air became more sinister.

The grass in the old war battle field was blood red, making the while field look like a blood red lake. Swords sticking out of the ground, the blade facing downwards looking like a grave. Ditches, cracks in the ground and many other imprints in the ground where visible war scars left on the surface.

His women were feeling very uncomfortable, dense blood Qi was in the air, affecting them, slowly trying to corrupt them. He had already made numerous pills for many situations. Pills to counter act blood Qi where obviously made.

All of them except himself ate a pill seemingly filled to the brim with life. It was an Invigorating Life Pill. Normally such a pill is grade 7 at least, but he removed its effects of reducing aging and instead kept the dense life energy that creates a shield around the consumer.

Life energy is a natural barrier against more evil in nature Qi. While the girls were feeling uncomfortable, trying to get through the horrible feeling of being surrounded by death, he himself had a thoughtful but excited glint in his eye.

'Although I heard about how bad the battle field being used for hundred if not thousands of years was, I didn't expect it to be this bad. Both father and the records in the capital didn't tell it to be in this state, and so saturated by blood Qi.

If it where anyone else they would think its just a natural thing caused by the hundreds of thousands of lives lost here, but I know a sign when I see one. There should be some treasure that should have been birthed from this dense blood energy and is in turn rapidly changing the environment to its preference.

Either that or there is some powerful blood type creature here and its residual aura is causing this, but that's next to impossible as such a creature would have been found a while ago. This is a common route for smugglers, which neither side bother to keep watch.

I would love to use that blood sabre I got ages ago and have it suck up all the blood Qi here but I am still too weak to do anything to it, and out of all the refiners I have the highest is only rank 4. Still way too weak to reforge it.

The database did say I could replace the spirit within the sabre making it usable, but I am not a sabre person and the only spirit I found so far is Su Da, but she is more useful in control of my inner world, than as a spirit for some sabre I will eventually replace when I am more powerful.

I will do a thorough check of the area and try to find if a treasure had been born from this blood Qi and maybe try to use it to get myself the blood element affinity.'

He made use of Bjornes extraordinary sense of smell and keen senses for detecting blood Qi which comes naturally to beasts to take him to the place with the densest blood Qi.

They had to pass by many creatures that where corrupted by the blood Qi and where nothing but mindless beasts that slaughter anything that moves. As they move further away from the route set by smugglers, they start encountering more of these beasts.

He used this as a good chance to train the girls, and each time a new group arrive he has them fight while himself and Bjorne either take out the stronger ones or keep the ones at the girl's level away so they can go in after the girls finished their current beast.

They where very close to the centre of the blood Qi, with thick blood red mist surrounding them. They have spent many hours in this blood Qi filled environment and they had all started to gain some resistance against its effects, thanks to the pills he made allowing their bodies to take in very small amounts of blood Qi and fighting against it, slowly reducing the strength the blood Qi has on their body.

The girls were out in front while he was sitting on top of the carriage watching them fight. Yan Yin as the strongest of the group was taking on two peak rank 2 beasts, just barely having the advantage.

She was dancing around with the occasional blue light and gushing sounds of water being released from her attacks. Her footwork was incredible and was like she was water itself. When an attack from the beasts came, she twisted around it before it hit, allowing her a chance to strike.

Although she avoids most of the attacks, she is still a level 5 stage 2 taking on peak rank 2 beasts. So, she occasionally gets hit causing large amounts of damage. He isn't worried for her though as he has already stationed his stage 3 shadows around each girl ready to step in before a fatal attack hit's.

Xuan Huo has a special talent for alchemy and he has been mostly teaching her only about that, but he doesn't want her to be weak at the very least , so he is also allowing her to train and gain some experience so she can at least defend herself.

Her movement was less fluid than Yan Yin and was a lot stiffer, but making use of the small stature she is quite nimble, almost like an assassin. So she is able to duck and dodge attacks but still gets hit a lot. She is struggling a little unlike the others, so he has one of the stage 3 experts secretly start to supress the early stage 2 beast she is fighting, so reduce its reaction time and speed by small amounts.

She is a level 1 stage 2, so her struggling is reasonable for a normal cultivator, but she has immortal level techniques and some of the best teaching one can get, yet can't defeat a beast that is supposed to be on her level. She is very disappointed in herself and is going even harder at the beast trying to defeat it and get stronger.

Sing Wei has the second highest cultivation, at being level 4 stage 2 and is similarly fighting a high rank 2 beast. Although she has a seductive body, she prefers a more brute force approach and tends to use power and her flame element to attack more than defend.

Cai Gengxin, Lian Chang and Ding Chin are working together as a group of 3 to face off against 3 mid rank 2 beasts. They are very close with each other and he is trying to make use of that by make them a fighting team.

Since they cultivate together and have similar talents, they are all level 3 stage 2. So, facing off against 3 mid rank beasts is tough for the but their teamwork allows them to do so.

They currently have Ding Chin act as bait kiting around 2 of the beasts while Lian Chang does frontal assaults against the left-over beast, while Cai Gengxin does support using her bow helping both of them and keeping control over the situation.

The fights continued for an hour with Yan Yin being the first to finish and having killed her to beasts. She is currently sitting behind him as she eats some pills to heal up and recover her drained Qi.

Next was surprisingly Xuan Huo, who managed to awaken her inner fighting spirit. Towards the end of her fight, she changed styles. She went from a more assassin like approach to a rougher more berserk type and charged making use of her small stature to narrowly avoid most attacks at close range.

He made notes of her change in fighting style and sent a request to his refiners to create her a new weapon fit for her new fighting style. After her was the trio and Sing Wei less than a minute behind them.

As Sing Wei had previously cultivated and trained under her family, she has to spend more efforts to unlearn the useless stuff they taught them and change techniques.

The trio where fighting against 3 beasts and their style is to take it slower and take them out a in small groups or singular, by making use of Ding Chin's ability to train beasts and her enhanced stamina.

This was their last fight before they entered into the dangerous zone, which he can feel has a few rank 3 beasts within. So, he has them stay in the carriage while he has Bjorne move forward and his hidden shadows slaughter all the living creatures within the inner area that aren't of use to him.
