I feel like I lived my life in autopilot. I was filial to my parents, I did what they wanted. All they asked was me to have a better life than they did, and so I did.
"Bai Sun Xi, let me look at you, my good son," My father calls to me. They have come to see me at my new house. I designed the layout to be as spacious as possible without sacrificing extra rooms and accommodations for others. The interior is mostly of blue, red and yellow colors, I used primary colors so I could buy whatever colors I wanted without my parents' worrying I would live a bland life.
"Our son is really grown up," My mother says as she observes me and my father. I am taller than my father but I have been away from them for a few years so it probably looks sudden in my mother's eyes.
"Ma don't you realise all your friends have grandchildren," I start to say to my Mother to try to make her feel better but I hear the wording in my head sounds like I'm calling her old. "You are the only free bird left, Ma," I correct myself before she reads intk my words.
"I don't want to be a free bird forever, find me a good daughter in law and decide on giving me a grandchild soon," My mother says hopefully letting my careless words slide. "No rush, but soon, after all I'm not going to stay young forever," My mother says with a playful sharp tone warning me she took very much offense if I was going to tell her she's old.
I eat breakfast with my parents then leave for work. I run a small business that does parties. We specialize in desserts, flowers, and drinks. It is a business I dominated with my mother's help early on. I went to study in many cultures to allow me to have a best understanding of many events I host.
I arrive an hour earlier than scheduled and somehow scare the receptionist. He bows to me and blocks my path. He usually just greets me but today something is amiss.
"A woman barged into your office and refuses to leave nor will she explain her business here to anyone, I'm sorry," Wu Jung explains. I smile at Wu Jung and he stands straight and he looks at me with scared eyes. "Boss, what is that look? You have an evil idea written on your face," Wu Jung points out.
"Don't worry, you aren't on the recieving end," I express and pat Wu Jung on his shoulder as he looks blown away.
"Too critical Boss, I must recover," Wu Jung acts and goes back to his position at his large front desk.
I look into my office from the hallway and see an almost familiar person. The woman reminds me of a client but I remember all clients I've dealt with, she mudt be related to a current high tier client.
"Hello, I am the CEO of the Let's Celebrate company, Bai Sun Xi," I say courteously extending my hand.
"Unimportant, I'll be acquiring this company, I'm the President of Wan Group, Wan Se Juji," The woman introduces herself. I almost laugh a big shot crawling down into my office, it's got to be a joke.
"Well Let's Celebrate is funded straight from my pockets and sponsored by private organizations, none of which are without a contract that explicitly states they have no financial hold, pull, or owing to my company. I made sure transactions on my family's business would be beneficial and never holding to destroy what we built," I explain, trapping this what I assume to be a wealthy person but not who she claimed to be, I cross the room and sit behind my desk shuffling all neccessary paperwork to the front for later review. "Courtesy aside the moment you threatened my company you have been blacklisted from my business, if you mess with my funding, suppliers, and or location, I'll see you in court with my lawyers. Please excuse me I have a business to run Miss Wan," I say and open my office door.
"I'll leave your company alone if you promise me one thing Mr. Bai," the woman says. "If you meet a certain Ruo Li Se please send her to me and have no further contact with her. Of course if you don't know who that is, it is a good thing, but if you send her to me I promise to leave this company alone. Think about it Mr. CEO. In trade for one person I can leave your company alone," The woman says leaving a card in my suit's chest pocket.
'If this over one person, they must be very valuable,' I think as I watch the woman leave the building. As I'm watching outside a woman in a white dress barrels out of a moving car. She doesn't move and I'm compelled to help her.
I race out of my building and see the woman has staggered away in now blood red and white dress. It's not a wedding dress I recognize as I approach the woman.
"Don't let them catch me, please I beg you, help me, save me," She cries and faints into my arms. For the first time in my life I want nothing more than to protect this stranger.
