It was clear who was going to win at this point. Poppy did fantastically, but Avina really brought the game-changer. The amount of control she possessed during the spell casting was something truly amazing as an adult, never mind a child.
Avina walked backstage, heart leaping by bounds. She knew what she had done, and it thrilled her endlessly to know that she was the one who did that. She actually improved Melis's spell.
The water tower was more of a defensive spell than an actual attack spell. It protected the user from outside damage because of the circulating water but at the same time, sucked because it wasn't convenient. The amount of effort needed to achieve the results made the spell the last thing to be picked when thinking about defense.
But again, the spell didn't become famous because it was an easy spell to use. It became famous because of how difficult it was to implement. The technique needed to cast it made it a symbol of status and talent.
