Pulling over a small stool, Avina plopped herself by the door. She cradled her head with her hands while placing her elbows to her knees. As she moved, her cardigan silently slipped off her shoulders and she had to pull it back up.
A series of jingling keys sounded outside the door. One turn and the door was open. The person walking in had her head down while she pulled off her loafers. Her bag was slung across her body, dipping down to the ground as she bent down.
"Mom! Dad!" Yeni called out. "Did you discharge Chloe? Because I heard-"
Yeni slipped into her house slippers and her gaze moved up. Her words were interrupted with surprise while her eyes rounded as she saw Chloe. Chloe sat there staring at her and then smiled big. With a small wave, she stood up from the stool and walked over.
"Welcome home, Nini!" Avina bounced to her side, smiling brightly like a kid. Nini was an old childhood nickname for Yeni.
