An eventful fresher's week finally came to an end and marked the beginning of a hectic academic term. It was also the first day of the Michaelmas Term. It had started getting cold and leaving the cosy comfort of the room became an ordeal for Myra who had lived most of her life in the warm city.
"Why do they begin a new academic year in September?" she complained to Sanchit.
"Because a lot of the students take up jobs in summer or join short term courses." He replied.
"It is funny that we are starting a new year in autumn instead of spring."
"Why? What's wrong with autumn?"
"Autumn is like the old age of seasons; the mind and body are low on energy and efficiency. Spring is for new beginnings, the fruition; the body and mind feel invigorated with fresh energy and new ideas."
"There is logic in your hypothesis. Try telling it to your dean. Let's see if he is convinced."
"You are mocking me!"
