"Send her home." Mu Beiting curtly spit out three words. Although what he'd said was very simple, Pete understood that the home he was talking about wasn't Ye Anxin's own home, but Mu Beiting's home. The villa home on the hillside...
The president had never brought a woman to live in that house. Ye Anxin would be the first one. Did this mean that the president was going to treat her differently from the other women he'd dated?
This was merely a thought that flashed through Pete's mind. He has always been a highly efficient subordinate, and, as soon as Mu Beiting issued the order, Pete immediately gestured toward Ye Anxin.
Ye Anxin squatted down beside Mu Beiting, took his arm, and said with a smile, "Mister, what time do you get off work? How about I stay with you until then?"
"Madame, the president still has a lot of business to discuss tonight." As soon as Pete finished speaking, Mu Beiting's icy, piercing eyes swept toward him coldly.
"I'm sorry." Realizing that he had said the wrong thing, Pete bowed his head in shame.
"Discussing business? How long will it take? When will you be finished? Shall I make you a midnight snack?" Ye Anxin smiled and looked at Mu Beiting with an obsequious look.
She was now desperate for revenge. She was forsaking her dignity as a woman. When did anyone ever need to kiss up to a man like this?
Back in the day, she and Mu Rufeng had started out as friends, and Mu Rufeng was the one who had pursued her romantically first. After a full year, she'd finally agreed. She'd given Mu Rufeng two entire years of her youth.
She'd never thought the day would come when she would need to please a man in order to get revenge on Mu Rufeng.
This time, Pete lowered his head. Without Mu Beiting's order, he was afraid to speak.
Mu Beiting looked down at her dazzlingly happy face, and his eyes remained extremely cold without the slightest bit of warmth.
Upon being stared at by him with these eyes, Ye Anxin suddenly felt a cold chill, the sort of chill that made her blood run cold.
At this moment, she was terrified of him, but she had to ignore that feeling and bite the bullet. She said cheerfully, "Let's talk about it. We're husband and wife, so as your wife, caring about my husband is only natural."
Mu Beiting retracted his gaze from her and shouted, "Pete..."
Pete became immediately galvanized, and he said quickly, "Madame, please leave with me."
"Okay." Ye Anxin pouted, although she had no choice but to stand up unwillingly. She kept looking back as she slowly walked toward Pete, who was at the door.
"Madame, let's go now." Pete made way for Ye Anxin in the doorway.
"Don't keep discussing business until it's too late for us. Drink less, because drinking too much isn't good for your health." Ye Anxin stood at the door and turned her head and looked at Mu Beiting pitifully with watery eyes. Her expression resembled a pitiful little puppy who was being abandoned by its owner.
Upon watching her act, Mu Beiting had pursed his thin lips into a straight line. There was a slight emotional fluctuation in his eyes, but, in the end, his eyes resumed their usual calm.
"Mister, I'll be leaving now. Bye, bye." Upon noticing that she was doing all the talking herself, and he'd only said one word from beginning to end, Ye Anxin felt a little discouraged. After waving good-bye to him, she followed Pete outside, still carrying the lunch box.
After the office door was closed, Mu Beiting continued to look down at the documents on his desk, as if Ye Anxin had never been there.
Outside the door, Ye Anxin held the lunch box as she walked behind Pete. When she passed by Judy's office, Judy nodded at her reluctantly in a perfunctory greeting.
