" Lynnon! Get your ass down here!" He shouted, shaking the ground under my feet while I packed the few remaining pieces of clothing I owned into my tiny Harajuku suitcase.
I zipped it up then struggled to bring it downstairs. My Papi watched from the first floor, probably not even thinking to move a muscle to help his daughter out for once in his life. He tip tapped his foot on our wooden floor and looked at his imaginary watch, indicating I was moving too slow for his liking. Not even within one second of reaching the first floor, he grabs my ear and drags me to the front door.
" Leave. NOW."
I open the rusty green door to see my friend Nana's car parked out in front. His parking was awful. He was an inch away from hitting our mailbox but I wouldn't mind if he did. I walk out and turn towards my Papi but he immediately slams the door in my face.
" Fuck you too asshole!" I yell at him through the door while flicking him off. Walking towards Nana's car, he starts to clap and whistle. I throw my luggage and duffle bag in the back seat then settle down in the passenger seat.
" Finally getting you out of this shithole," Nana says before backing up and driving off. We had a long conversation on the way to his modern-looking house. Once we got there, he helps me out and grabs my stuff for me.
" Treating me like a queen I see." I giggle, winking at him
" Yeah, whatever."
We get upstairs then Nana shows me where I would be sleeping. It was only three pm, so it would be a while before using the bed.
" Is your mom home?"
" Nah. She has work today. She got a new patient a few days ago so she'll have more night shifts"
Nana's mom is a doctor who works at the hospital almost an hour away. He barely gets to see her because she works so far away and does night shifts a lot so he naturally learned how to live by himself. Starting to unpack, I look back at Nana.
" Do you still have my skateboard?"
" Yeah? Why the hell would I ever throw that out?" He chuckles back to the question he found dumb.
He walks up behind me and hugs me around my waist before resting his chin on my right shoulder.
" Especially since it's yours. That would be cruel."
I roll my eyes, knowing what he was trying to do.
" Nana..."
Nana sighs and slowly stands up straight, ending his hug in the process. I turn around and look at him seriously. He looked disappointed.
" I know. I promised I wouldn't till you asked" He said back to me, starting the motion to turn around and walk away.
Feeling guilty, I pull him down a bit by his collar but not low enough for me to not get on my tiptoes. I gently kiss his cheek, feeling it get warmer by the second. I pull away then start to search through the house.
" Now. Where'd you say my skateboard was?"
I heard Nana answer back from another room. His voice was a bit muffled but I understood. He said he would quickly go get it from his car. Since this was technically my home now, I decided to make myself comfortable. I change into a new outfit - comfier than the last. A baggy tee with a picture of Kuromi and black short shorts that got covered by the shirt. I go to the pantry to grab a bag of my favorite chips: DORITOS. While eating them, I walk back, passing my room and walking into Nana's room. The walls were plastered with posters of his role models and favorite shows. He's such a fanboy. I giggle at the sight.
" Cute"
I walk over to his beanbag chair and make myself comfortable. I sink into it, feeling all the covered packed beans surround my body. I hear the door open and close, getting excited to scare Nana once he finds me in his room. I sat close to the wall of his door so it was only a centimeter-thick crack that I could see through. I watch as I see a vague representation of Nana's clothing move past the crack. I silently laugh, getting ready to freak him out.
" Lynnon?" I hear him call out after noticing I wasn't in the room he assigned to me.
He walks past the door a few times before he walks in and sees me almost fully sunken into the beanbag chair.
I looked inhuman.
Even with slightly blurry vision, I see him jump. That triggers me into laughing hysterically but as a try to get up, it becomes difficult. I stop laughing and give up. Silence filled the room for a quick second before I shoot my arms up towards Nana. I hear him laugh a bit before he walks up and pulls me out of the beanbag chair, making my hair messy.
" I never knew beanbags were dangerous." He said smiling back at me while I sit clumsily on the floor and he bent down in front. He still held my hands at that moment, blinding me from running towards the board that he knew I loved more than life.
