She took the last name of the old man that liked to give her presents. Dozens of presents and gifts at first, then hundreds, then thousands, and later a dog. A beautiful fluffy white dog that she named Gandalf.
"Beth, are you sure you want to name him that?"
"Why not?"
"Sigh…" the old man only moved to the other side of the room to continue drinking his tea, then he sighed. His little granddaughter was strange and sometimes had crazy ideas, but she was caring towards her friends.
"Grandpa," Beth started saying while caressing the fluffy little ball of hair in her arms. "Why did you take me in?"
She wanted to know, even if it was a disappointment in the end. She needed to make sure why the old man made her his grandchild. Furthermore, she knew that he had two other sons with their own families, but he took a girl from an unknown origin to enter his house.
