Chapter 2 - Decisive Moment!

***

Ungifted, ones without any innate affinity to Neutral Energy. Although rare, even children of the Great Clans were sometimes born Ungifted. However, the people of the Raider Clan, in the Pluton Star Region, were cursed since long ago. Cursed to be Ungifted for eternity!

No one knows what really led to them being cursed. Legend has it, something happened between the Raider Clan's forty-fifth leader, and the last Celestial Acaila. Theirs, was a tale of love, regret and betrayal.

Neutral Energy, the foundation of all things, living and non-living. It gives the power to create and destroy. Gifted ones are capable of remarkable feats. Some use it; to heal any wounds, others, to see distant things, some even use it to create life. While others use it to destroy.

The Pluton Star Region, once a Great Power, now reduced to a mere Colony of The Zerynthian Star Region. It was plagued by Acaila and her armies during the War of Uprising. Nicknamed; the Fallen Star.

"Tell me your name boy. And I will make you a god!"

"Eon!" He replied.

"A worthy name, for one who will be known eternally, as the god of Sword-Play!"

"Who are you boy?!" The warrior asked. His eyes burning with fury.

"I am the one will end your life!" Eon replied.

"You dare mock me?! You, a mere boy end my life?! I am the great commander Amar!"

"Decapitator! Offensive Skill; Orb of Fire!"

*Orb- A ball of highly concentrated Neutral Energy.

Orbs of burning fire, suddenly appeared around Amar. They were burning violently, as if depicting his rage and anger.

Suddenly a status screen appeared before Eon's eyes, it read;

"Decapitator! Show me the boy's innate abilities!" Amar yelled out.

"Pathetic! You have no Neutral Energy at all. Your Innate Abilities are well below average too! And you dared to say you could end my life?! To think i lost an arm to one like you!"

"Would you like to see his Innate Abilities Master Eon?"

"It would seem his Innate abilities are presently higher than yours currently are, master Eon."

The Orbs suddenly started getting bigger, and the room was heating up like a furnace.

"What can I do to ward off his attack?" Eon asked the mysterious voice."

"Activate a skill."

"A skill? What is a skill?"

"A special ability unique to you alone."

The screen appeared once more, and read;

...

"All I have access to is the beginner level?" Eon asked.

"Yes Master Eon. My power can only be unlocked over time, as your body adjusts to it. Any more than you can handle would kill you instantly."

"I see. But can I beat him with the beginner level?"

"Do not be mistaken by what its name suggests master Eon. For a god's beginner level, cannot be compared to a mere mortal's"

"Call out my name, and use, one of the Defensive Skills!"

"Your name? What is your name?"

"I have no name. I am merely a power at your disposal. Only you, my master can name me as you see fit."

"My hand has been cold since I took hold of you. And my hair color's changed to white. You remind me of the snow caped mountains my father and I travelled to. I will call you..."

The larger orbs suddenly split into hundreds of smaller ones. And Amar put up a grin.

"Get hit by any one of those, and you'll lose a limb or two boy!" Amar shouted, as he let out an arrogant laugh.

"Storm! Defensive skill; Dance of The Wind!" Eon yelled.

His body maneuvered the barrage of Orbs as if he could see them in slow motion. It wasn't as though he became incredibly fast. He simply instinctively avoided all the Orbs with incredible precision.

"How is that possible?! Who is this boy?!" Amar exclaimed.

"Master, you best put up a defensive shield!" Amar's system told him.

The glow in Eon's eye radiated power and ferocity. The kind Amar had seen in his master Azure's eyes.

"Decapitator! Defensive Skill; Blaze of Eternity!"

A wall of fire appeared between Amar and Eon. But it was useless before Eon's new found power.

"Storm! Offensive Skill; Lightless Slash!"

Eon's blade and body passed right through the wall of fire as if unaffected by it entirely. And his blade struck Amar right through his chest. The large warrior tumbled down and fell right at Eon's feet. Eon felt an intense urge to end his life, but when the decisive moment came, he hesitated.

"Are you not going to kill me? Why not boy?" Amar asked as he lied at the boy's feet.

"No, I will not be reduced to the same level as the likes of you!" Eon replied, as he turned to walk away.

He would live regret that brief moment of hesitation. That one moment he let his guard down.

"Decapitator! Fragmentation; Rage Mode!"

Amar transformed into a hybrid from. All his Innate Abilities were doubled. Speed, strength, agility. Even his wounds were healing.

"To think a mere boy could force me to use fragmentation. It seems you're more talented than the fledglings of my clan. Lord Azure would be thrilled to meet you!" Amar exclaimed.

Eon's system warned him;

"Dragon Style! Orb of Death!"

Amar created an orb mixed with his fire affinity. He was in such close range, that there was nothing Eon could do, but take the brunt of his attack. An attack that could kill within an instant. But something unimaginable happened in that very moment. Eon's body absorbed the Orb.

"I don't believe this boy, your resistance to Neutral Energy is quite astonishing. I held back a bit, but still, an attack of that magnitude should have instantly vaporized you! It would be a shame to kill you now, I'll let lord Azure decide what becomes of you!"

Eon had passed out. He was pushed beyond his limit and subconsciously used a higher level defensive skill. The recoil knocked him out.

"Azure! I am your lord, am I not?"

"Yes you are father! Order it, and I shall die!"

"Of my eight direct descendants, you and sister Adonia inherited my power the most. Mastering Fragmentation at the mere age of eighteen. A feat yet to be paralleled by even the most talented fledglings of our clans."

"You humble me father. What do you desire? Be it in my power, it shall be done!"

"It would seem a new Celestial has emerged."

"A new Celestial father?! Was the cycle not broken after Acaila's death?!"

"It would seem not. I can clearly feel a flame burning, a flame that will inevitably grow into an inferno—and consume us all, if nothing is done to put it out."

"Find that flame Azure, and end it!"

"Yes father! It shall be done!"
