I was still shocked from the files I found on the computer in my fathers study. I must've been kidnapped. I mean there's really no other option. I need to keep this secret too myself for awhile. I didn't really read further into the files I found. I took the files, and called a cab to take me back to Maddox. The cab came about fifteen minutes later. When I got back to Maddox's place, I took the files up to my room and stuffed them under the mattress. It was around six o'clock when Maddox returned home from work.
"How was your day?" I asked him.
"I hate when people ask me that. It's always a hard day at work."
"I can't even begin to imagine the things you've seen." I empathized.
"No you can't. Anyway, let's go out and get something to eat."
"Sure, let me get a shower and stuff" I went to my room, taking my shower. I decided to wear joggers and sweater since it was fall and starting to get cold. I made sure to blow dry my hair so I don't get sick.
"What do you feel like eating?" Maddox asked me.
"I'm the most pickiest eater ever. I don't eat vegetables or Chinese but I love Mexican and Italian"
"Mexican it is then" Maddox chuckled, smiling. I like seeing his smile. It brings out the twinkle in his deep chocolate eyes. We left his house and headed to El Torro. We made it to the restaurant in fifteen minutes, going inside, being seated.
"So can I ask about you?" Violet asked.
"Sure, what would you like to know?"
"Where are you from?"
"North Carolina but my family and I migrated to Michigan when I was a small child. We moved for my fathers work."
"Do you have any siblings?" When I asked that question, Maddox' face darkened.
"I have a sister, she was murdered. I was 16, she was 21. She was coming home from the bar late at night. No one saw her after that. Her name was Charlotte."
"I'm so sorry that happened. I know that must've been hard on your family. I don't really remember much of who I am. It slowly comes back to pieces. I do know, I have a half brother. His name is Tyler. Apparently my father had an affair and fathered a child. Like I need anymore baggage piled onto me."
"I know things are tough. I am working on finding the killer to keep you safe." The server came over and took our order, giving us time to eat our chips and salsa.
I took his hand, holding it in mine."Thank you for everything that you've done for me. You've helped me in ways you can't even imagine." Maddox squeezed my hand, flashing a smile, giving me a glimpse of his dimples.
"I appreciate everything you've done for me so far Maddox. You've been my rock" I chuckled.
"Someone has to save the damsel" He winked at me cause me to smile.
"How do we know you don't need to be saved?" I fired back. Maddox shook his head at me and continued on eating. We continued eating in silence.
"We should get back to the house" Maddox went off to pay the bill. I grabbed my jacket and walked out the door behind him. When we got home, I went into my room. I took off my clothes, leaving only my underwear and a T-shirt on. I got the files from under my bed. After looking through the files, there wasn't much there on me or where I came from. There was a lot on my biological father and his illegal dealings. There was very little on my mother. I still have no idea who I really am. I decided to look through the files one more time, in hopes to find some clue to who I really am. As I was flipping the pages, I came across a photo of my dear friend Sage.

I couldn't read anymore without getting a headache. I don't understand what any of this means. I put the files back under the mattress. I pulled my phone out and dialed Sage, getting her voicemail.
"It's me. I found something that I need to talk to you about. Call me back, I love you" I hung up and decided it was time for me to go to bed. When I looked at the clock it was ten 'o'clock, I drifted into a dream less sleep.
I was being shaken awake by Maddox, an hour later.
"Violet, Sage has been murdered"
