Chapter 1 - Chapter One

Darkness, that's how it all started, I don't remember anything before that, except for one thing.

Pain.

I don't know how I got here, but the feeling of gravity pushing on my chest accompanies my confusion as my mind wanders to find something familiar. Seconds later I hit something hard, nothing unnatural, it just feels like dry dirt scratching my back to pieces. I don't acknowledge the pain nor do I open my eyes, to afraid of what I'll see. The mystery of whatever's going on terrifies me to the point where I just don't want to exist. Instead, I listen, but the only thing that reaches my ears is the wind howling wildly as if there was a storm happening at the very moment, yet there's no rain, no thunder, nothing. In what seems like seconds it all ceases and the warmth of the sun tingles my skin, tempting me to open my eyes. Challenging myself, I only peek and absorb part of my surroundings, so far nothing catches my attention. A plain field of grass stretches out before me, I don't dare move, afraid of the pain I know is soon to come. The grass shuffles, I hear faint voices yelling back and forth, arguing over something, and my eyes snap shut pretending to be unconscious I lay still, but there's only one detail I forgot to mention. I'm not exactly, normal.

~Unkown POV~

As I finish my dinner I walk over to the sink and gently set my dishes in when all of a sudden the sky let out a roar of thunder, but I was no fool, there was no storm. Running outside my mother yells at me to do the opposite, yet I disobey. I never disobey my mother, but I felt the need to look outside. Just as I did I saw something fall from the sky, the wind blowing madly, whipping the grass in the field back and forth viciously. Scrunching my brows, I noticed the small dot looked human like....except....there was something black surrounding them. I stood there until it landed, and made sure it wasn't going to get up. My mother was crying for me to come back, but my curiosity took over my body ushering me forward into the field as I keep my eyes on the slim figure. I must've been five feet from...him. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It was a boy, probably around my age, but you can never tell these days so I won't assume. He had huge, black, feathered wings outstretched to about 15 feet. He had black hair, neon green markings under his eyes, and on his forearm there was some sort of wrap that covered black markings. My eyes were wide with awe, at least he had pants on. Soon I realised he was injured and I quickly called for my mother. "Mom! Come here quick! And bring a blanket!!"

A few minutes later my mother was beside me with a large blanket. Gasping she stared at the young man. "My goodness, what is he..?" I shook my head, "There's no time to ask questions, he's hurt." Grabbing the blanket I spread it out on the grass beside him. My mother nodded and helped me lift the boy onto the blanket without injuring his wings, we carefully began to carry him towards the house.

~Original POV~

I kept my eyes shut, but I listen, I listen to everything, the alerted male voice, the woman's voice judging me based on my looks. 'Typical' I thought as I felt myself being lifted onto a softer surface, I want to see the people that are saving me, but again I'm to scared. Taking a moment to focus on my extra articles, I make sure they arent injured, and thankfully they arent, but my back is, and pretty badly too. I groan in pain as I try to move, but I was immediately shut down by a very demanding male voice. "Don't move, you'll only hurt yourself more, don't worry, we only want to help." Damn, there goes my plan of keeping my consciousness a secret, oh well, I might as well say something now. With my deep horse voice, I open my neon green eyes slowly and respond simply. "As you wish." I gave myself a tiny grin, I'm so stupid. I could see the boy in front of me, he had short white hair, tattoos, and- 'is that eye liner?' I stared at him for a moment longer. 'Wow, it really makes his eyes pop' blinking quickly, I cleared my head, ah, right, his description, sorry. He has gray eyes and glasses, 'awfully cute for a guy.' Clearly looking amused, the boy studied my expression and became confused, which made him even cuter than he already was.

Pulling me into the house, they tugged me into the living room and lifted me onto the couch to which I grunted in pain. My back really hurt and I didn't want to move. The boy slowly lifted me up so the my back was facing him, sitting behind me, he took a moment before stating simply. "Mom, could you grab the med kit for me please." His mother ushered off to get the med kit, I let out a snort. 'Does she obey his every command?' Before I could think any further his mother returned with a small white box, labeled with a red cross. The young man took it and gave her a small thank you. "Can you hold your wings up for me so i can clean up your scrapes." I did as I was told holding my wings up from my back. As soon as I felt the cold sting on the antibacterial cloth I hissed and flinched away. "Sorry..It'll be over soon, I'm trying to work fast." The sound of his voice was mostly sheepish but oddly soothing, maybe it was just because I was still out of it from hitting the ground. So I decided to let it pass, "It's alright, do what you need to." Letting him do whatever he was doing to my back I stared at the woman as she sat down in front of me with a smile. "Do you mind if I ask you some questions?" I shook my head as an answer, I couldn't care less what she asked, and who said I would answer. I hid my smirk as she clapped her hands lightly, "Wonderful, okay, lets start with your name." "Nev (Nee-ve, its pronounced with the 'E' sound, not the 'Eh' sound, just to clarify)" I answered shortly, my wings started to cramp slightly from me having to hold them up for the boy, making them twitch. "That's lovely." Her eyes darted over to my wings. She stared for a few moments at them and I knew what she wanted to ask immediately. However, I had a feeling she didn't want to be nosey. I gave her a polite smile, "You can ask me anything you want, it doesn't bother me." The woman smiled softly, "My name is Charlie, and the one patching you up is my son, Darius." I nodded, "Cool." I could tell the boy- I mean, Darius tensed from behind me, he must be uncomfortable. "So, Nev, what are you exactly...?" "Mom! That was rude." Darius glared at his mother a bit as she looked apologetic. I shook my head dismissing his comment, "Its alright, really, I don't mind. And to answer you question..." I paused, and my face fell. Darius's hand moved from my back, and I took the chance to stand and drop my wings, stretching them a bit to uncramp them as I looked around. The woman had a concerned look, "What's the matter sweetheart?" I looked at her and frowned. "I don't remember anything... I can't answer you."

Darius stood by me and set a hand on my shoulder, "That's because you fell from the sky, you must have amnesia."

I looked down, and dropped my wings, tucking them behind my back. "Excuse me." I walked the way we came from and exited the house, walking outside I stretched my wings as far as they could go. Darius followed me outside so I turned to him and locked my lime green eyes with his icy gray eyes. He froze in his place and I immediately recognized that look, it was fear. Fear for the unknown. I turned around immediately and sat down, relaxing my wings. I stared at the sky with longing, studying the white cotton ball like clouds in wonder.

What am I?.... I don't know that answer myself.
