Compared to Heng Ya Zhai, which was filled with gold and jade, Taiyi Pavilion was much more metaphysical. Just from the decoration, one could tell that the owner of this pavilion was a person who was proficient in Feng Shui.
Feng Shui was also known as Geomancy. The former represented the Heavenly Dao, while the latter represented the Dao.
Therefore, in simple terms, Feng Shui was about how people could live in harmony with heaven and earth.
As the saying went, those who obeyed the heavens would prosper, and those who defied the heavens would perish. Of course, the protagonist did not count.
The five elements were the most easily accessible forces of heaven and earth in daily life, so the boundaries of geomancy, metal, wood, water, fire, and earth were moved to the corresponding geographical areas.
For example, the living room was metal, the bedroom was earth, the kitchen was fire, the toilet was water, the study was wood, and so on.
