Travis and I wait for Natalia and her son at the lobby, out of respect for her. She didn't see it fit for me to walk right to her suite and knock on her door. Just a precaution, she said, to avoid problems with her ex. We came in Travis' car, his is big enough to fit all of us. People stare at us and smile. The kids look at us with wonder, and some of the parents stop by to make small talk and ask for pictures.
Today I am Batman, and I am not ashamed to admit the amount of planning and money I have spent on my awesome costume. I will assure you it is worth every bit of it. To have kids lining up with their parents to take a picture with me... it is priceless. I will never do this as a job, but for a moment, I can trick myself into thinking I have saved the city.
