Leon Chronos has been tasked with training six Mages from the Heart Kingdom Mage Academy. To further understand their magic, Leon asked each of the New Mages to give a demonstration of their power. Lance Grey, Nina Willow, John Crest, Sebastian Tempest and Lora Magma have all demonstrated their abilities, now it's Rex Striker's turn and he's about to put on quite a show.
Rex walks up to the tree stump and stares at it for a while.
Leon Chronos: What's the matter Rex, got cold feet? (Leon asks, confused by his hesitation)
Rex Striker: It's just that, I can't use Heart magic. (Rex explains nervously)
John Crest: What do you mean you can't use Heart Magic?!
Leon Chronos: Hold on a minute John, Rex what do you mean? You must be able to use magic otherwise how did you pass the Aptitude test, or enter the academy, do they just let anyone in these days?
Rex Striker: No I can use magic, It's just... (sighs) Just watch.
Rex channels his power, making magical energy swirls around him until a shield appears on his arm.
John Crest: That's it? And you said you couldn't use magic.
Leon Chronos: Wait a minute. (laughs)** I know that shield! (Leon says with a big smile on his face).
Lora Magma: What do you mean, It looks like a regular magic shield to me.
Leon Chronos: All of you shush and watch. (Leon commands, directing them to look at the shield)
They all carefully watch the shield, expecting something to happen but only Leon and Rex know what's about to appear.
A few moments later the shield suddenly develops a face and begins to scream.
Shield: Defence! Defence! Defense!!! I Will Defend You Bro!!! (The talking shield yells)
Then Leon suddenly burst out laughing
Leon Chronos: So it is you, no wonder your face seemed familiar in that assembly, you're the kid from the Soul Kingdom.
There is an uproar in group at the realisation that Rex is from the Soul Kingdom.
Lance Grey: You're from the Soul Kingdom? So this is what soul magic looks like. (Lance says in awe)
Lora Magma: I've never seen anything like it. (Lora says while still staring at the screaming shield)
Sebastian Tempest: Why is it screaming? (Sebastian asks in confusion)
John Crest: Yeah it's creepy.
Nina Willow: No it's not, I think it's cute.
Lance Grey: I think it's awesome! What can it do?! (Lance asks in excitedly)
Rex Striker: He, protects me from danger.
Leon Chronos: Rex is a Soul mage, Soul Mages are able to create magical weapons imbued with pieces of their soul, these soul weapons are very powerful and often have personalities of their own, Just like this cute little guy. (Leon says as he pets Rex's shield)
Shield: Defence! I will defend you! (The shield still yells)
Rex Striker: I met Mr Chronos when he came to the Soul Kingdom to deliver a message to our king, he was the only one who thought my magic was actually useful, so when I was old enough I travelled to the Heart Kingdom to become a Mage, being a foreigner is hard, but I came to this kingdom so that one day I can become as great as Mr Chronos.
Leon Chronos: Please don't call me Mr, It makes me seem old, and also don't aim to be as great as me but try your best to surpass me, and everyone else. That's what we strive for in the Heart Kingdom, for the next generation to be stronger than the last.
Rex Striker: Okay then, one day I will surpass you. (Rex claims)
Leon Chronos: I look forward to it. Now show us some Soul attack magic! (Leon yells excitedly)
Rex Channels more power and it's immense, suddenly a huge torrent of energy erupt from his body. The magical energy takes the form of a Locomotive with a monstrous look on it's face, the monstrous Ghost Train flies into the air before barreling towards the group, ready to devour them.
Rex Striker: Look out! (Rex yells warning everyone just in time to evade the attack from the Ghost Train)
Leon Chronos: What is that? (Leon asks staring at the mechanical beast)
Rex Striker: I call it the Ghost Train, it's my only magical attack! But I guess I can't fully control it yet. (Rex says in embarrassment)
The monster Locomotive continues racing through the sky, circling the group and readying itself for another attack.
Leon Chronos: That thing is really dangerous, I will have to take it down.
Lance then walks up to Leon and stops him from taking any action against the Ghost Train.
Lance Grey: Sir with your permission, can I handle the threat? (Lance asks confidently)
Leon Chronos: Okay. Knock yourself out. (Leon says to Lance, impressed by his confidence)
The Ghost Train dive down again, but this time Lance is there to stop it. He uses a new spell and blasts a red Cloud of poison out his hands, which engulfs the Ghost train. The train then began to breakdown before it finally explodes in the air.
Leon Chronos: Woah, what type of spell was that? (Leon asks in surprise)
Lance is a bit exhausted after using the spell, but still has the strength to reply.
Lance Grey: It's a new spell that I've been working on, it summons a poison cloud that can disperse magical energy. Since the Ghost train was kinda made out of magical energy, I knew the poison cloud could stop it.
Lora Magma: Why didn't you show us this spell before.
Lance Grey: The Poison Cloud has a damaging effect on living creatures, so I didn't want to put you guys in harm's way. But since the Ghost train was so high up I felt it was a good time to try it out. (Lance explained with a weak smile)
Leon Chronos: Good job once again Lance, you're just full of surprises. And Rex, impressive Soul magic.
Rex Striker: But I failed miserably!
Leon Chronos: Are you kidding me? All you kids are amazing! Each and everyone of you. I promise to do my best to train you into the most spectacular mages this kingdom has ever seen! (Leon yelled excitedly)
Meanwhile in the distance, not very from them all. Mistress Copy watches them, with a fiery Demon by her side.
Mistress Copy: There you are you bastard! (Copy said with evil thoughts on her mind)
