When Abby opened her mouth to speak again. Suddenly the bushes moved and wrestled. Then leaping out of the hedge bushes came this antler feline lioness species. The feline paid no attention to us and jumped onto the fountain to get a drink. Abby and Maria inhaled while I was astonished to see such a magnificent creature. Judging by her white fur and glowing red eyes. She had to be the lone albino lioness, Cory and his friends told me about.
As she lapped up the water with her tongue. I studied the features of this beautiful feline creature. Overall, her body was slim and slender but she stood taller than the wolves. Even her paws were huge along with that she had very sharp up-straight pointed ears. Her tail was just an arrow-shaped stub that laid down on her bottom. Beautiful. She was outright gorgeous!
Just by looking at her slender body mass and those pointed ears. I could tell she was fast and slinky. Back in her species' prime to hunt for food. Her breed was one of the top Predators that hunted these lands before becoming immortal. Now just like her and the rest of the creatures we share the land with, are no longer required to hunt for a meal to survive. Any torn flesh off an immortal turns to a sandy substance. Depending on how old this albino lioness is, she's likely never known what it's like to eat meat. Well, unless she hunted down a mortal hybrid human.
That's a little more disturbing to think about since all creatures carry the perfect immortal gene compared to our Kind. Whereas we hybrid humans don't.
Randomly, I felt a nudge on my shoulder and turned my head by a smidge to see on my right, Abby's mouth moving.
"Back up slowly." I read her lips moving clearly and her facial expression was in complete terror. Abby had good reasons to be terrified. This beautiful creature wasn't to be reckoned with. Just because she can't eat our flesh doesn't mean those killer instincts aren't intact. Surely, she would love the taste of immortal blood. So I gave a gesture in agreement that it was time to go. I locked hands with Abby and Maria here on my left.
While the lioness was seemingly busy filling her quench to have some cooling fresh water. The three of us took this as an opportunity to get out of here before she spots. Very carefully, we stepped lightly back while keeping our eyes on the lioness. She continued to drink while we walked backward one inch at a time to leave the premises.
Crack! A loud twig snapped in half from underneath Maria's shoes. Maria squeezed my hand tighter when the lioness looked up from licking up the water. Her capturing red eyes narrowed in at us like prey. A grumble vibrated past her feline square-shaped mouth. Her eyes stayed piercing straight at us and then her slender body crouched down in a prowling stance that stood perfectly balanced on the fountain.
Meanwhile, we stood there trying not to breathe in hopes she wouldn't pounce on us. Maria jumped when the lioness snorted an intake of air to smell our scent. Her ears flexed to listen for any movement that would come from us. Suddenly then she slinked onto the fountain barely making a half cycle to line up with our stance. Two of her front paws touched the pebbles while her hind legs stayed on the fountain. She rumbled out this prolonged low pitched growl. It was then I realized her eyes met mine. Those beautiful eyes prowled in at me like I am a tasty treat. Slowly, her steps prowled forward for her hind legs to get off the fountain. She growled louder and more fiercely. Her shoulder blades shuffled up and down for the pounce when she crouched lower. All the while her striking eyes never once left mine. I was her target and she was ready to charge me like prey at any moment.
Abby yanked my arm for us to walk backward to get out of here. We stepped back a little faster to leave.
But the lioness got up and followed us around the bend of the bushes. This time she hissed, showing off her sharp canine teeth. Undoubtedly, I am her target. So to prevent Maria and Abby from being attacked. I broke my hands-free from them. Then I went toward the right pathway as I waved for them to take the left pathway. But they shook their heads no at me.
As the lioness hissed showing me her teeth, she did just as I expected. She followed my way and ignored Abby and Maria. The lioness crouched down low and sprinted up to attack me!
As Maria and Abby screamed out, "Sally!"
Things went slow-motion as she came at me. Until unexpectedly, Jay, John, Daniel, Zig, and a few other men came rushing in from the left pathway and stepped in front of us. Jay, Daniel, and Zig shield themselves in front of me. The lioness skids on her front paws hissing aggressively but it stopped her attack.
"Back up slowly," Jay gave a calm order as he noticed the lioness was shifting her eyes around their bodies to see how to get Sally. "Sally, stay behind me for some reason she isn't fond of you."
I couldn't say anything and moved along from behind Jay. Every small step he took backward down the right pathway, I made sure to take it with him. Along with Daniel and Zig that stood between Jay. But I took a glance toward the left and saw John got Maria and another man protected Abby. With the remaining men that were here to save us. They paced themselves on the left pathway that split off from ours. Luckily, for them, they were escaping much easier. Seeing how we had the lioness prowling our way to pounce. As the four of us walked further back enough that I could no longer see Abby and Maria over the hedge. But I heard them getting away on the opposite side.
Till I heard another hiss and a growl came out blaring from the lioness lurking in on us.
From off his weapons belt, Jay grabbed his gun and shot it at an angle in the sky.
Instead of getting scared, she roared broadly and charged three full steps before stopping on her front legs. Her right paw flew up with sharp claws expanded. She hissed fearsomely, whipping her paw out in the air. As her claws extended out like thick exposing thorns. To slash Jay in his stomach but he stepped back in time. She merely missed him by an inch. Regardless Jay, Zig, and Daniel stood their ground bravely to protect me. As she was getting ready to pounce on us again. Till we heard a loud howling from the wolves. Unexpectedly, the lioness hissed one last time and then ran off from underneath the hedge of bushes. From here we could hear her jump over bushes and flowers. Until she likely dashed into the woods.
