Chapter 228 - Ch 228: Cory's Care & Passion

I felt this warm light beaming onto my face. My eyelids gradually flutter open to the beautiful morning light. The sheer black curtains are partly pulled open and I saw the balcony doors were wide open. This refreshing breeze blows into the room. The birds were singing lovely chirps. It felt as if I was waking up in a fairy tale. My body felt toasty and cozy. I lifted my upper body and the blanket slid past my shoulders. It was a bit bewildering to find I had slept in my bikini. My neck was slightly sore from the thin string tie. But other than that I felt pretty good. I crawled out of bed and grabbed a pair of blue jean shorts and a light blue tank top that had lace sewed at the bottom seam at my waistline. Afterward, I took a shower and did my usual to get ready. My makeup and hair were done in a matter of fifteen minutes.

In every society, it's a demand for a female to wear makeup and have her hair done. The hybrid men want it like that. Even in the orphanage, girls were taught at a young age to wear it.

After slipping on my black velvet shoes and then going down the hallway. To my surprise, I found Cory on the couch working on his laptop. Although that part wasn't so surprising, seeing how he's always working.

His eyes veer up at me and he beams this handsome smile. His eyes lit marveling at me entirely out of passion. Yet I had to push past the way he ogled at me. I knew he had feelings for me but sadly I didn't feel the same. Yet my body was reacting to his elegant glow. I smiled back and rested my back up against the wall that hung the TV. Only I noticed the TV was inside the hidden compartment which made the wall look bare. Cory put his laptop on the coffee table. He seemed just as surprised to see me too.

"You're up earlier than I had expected, it's still early," He said, shimmering brighter. "How are you feeling?"

"I feel so much better now," I shared with him. "That wasn't a fun experience."

Cory seemed to fret. "I know, I could tell," he said in a gentle caring tone.

Then he got up from his seat and walked over to me. My heart skips three beats when he brushes a lock of my hair behind my right ear. Between him and my back smashed into the wall. I was bound to stare into his breathtaking presence. There was no way to evade that luscious aroma from him. With three fingers he caressed my jawline taking my breath away. His deep-set eyes softened and his lips parted to speak.

"I am truly sorry I couldn't fully do anything about the agony you were in," Cory said with sympathy.

My heart sped and my eyesight was stuck in his eyes. He seemed candid when he spoke. His touch is so soft for how robust he is. He's making my heart feel as if it's about to pop out in my chest and fly across the room. I feel as if my chest is collapsing. Then it dawned on me that Cory did care for me while I was in that horrible heat.

I gave a light smile and spoke from my heart in gratitude. "Thank you, for not taking advantage of the situation. I know I was a bit harsh yesterday but I know you could have taken advantage of me. I am grateful that you didn't. I feel you handled everything to the best that you could."

Cory smiled and then kissed my forehead. My heart fluttered when he did so. It felt as if my heart had grown wings from inside my chest. I took in a light breath feeling his tender kiss on my head. Then he wrapped me in his arms for a hug. Without any hesitation, I hugged him back. Then he lifted his head for our eyes to connect. He has such a soft smile lifted.

"Sally, I want you to always know and remember this. I won't take advantage of you. I truly love you. Even if you do not feel the same. I hope you start seeing how I feel." Cory said this is such a meaningful softly toned voice while we still held each other. In this precious moment together.

I swallowed down my air while remaining dazed within the deepest part of his eyes. Yet managed to keep it together.

Softly pitched, I said. "I just need time but I will remember what you say. You're just hard to read most of the time."

Deep within my heart, I hope I didn't hurt his feelings. But I need to be honest with him since I don't love him. However, it didn't mean I wasn't fond of him. If it were any other hybrid man, surely he would have taken advantage of my weakness. Very slowly, I pushed his arms off my waist. Cory smirked but released me out of his grasp.

"Why don't we go down to the kitchen and get some food?" He randomly asked me.

"Sure, I could use some food," I told him, trying not to sound too chirpy.

Cory half-grin in a flirty manner. He stepped back to his laptop and shut down his work. And then he walked over to the door, opening it up for me so we could head out.

I stepped out into the hallway and turned my heel toward him when he was closing the door.

"You have two days off but yet you are still working from your laptop?" I cutely questioned him. He smirked at me slightly curving a flirty grin. And he went around me chuckling.

Then Cory told me as we ascended the long staircase. "Being Primary King, I am used to always working. I'm not used to sitting around and doing nothing. I kinda always feel something needs to be done. Typically, I take this time to catch up on aspects I feel need to be done."

I giggled hearing him, "sounds like you have an addiction to working too much."

Cory laughed admitting, "you could say that but it's hard for me to take a break when I am Head King.

I smiled full-heartedly at him as we ambled one step at a time. "Maybe your friends are right, you do need a vacation."

Cory smirked saying, "surely I do! I just can't figure out when is the best time to do it."

I could only beam another smile hearing his excuses.
