~ Down the halls, I followed Cory on the same floor right to Maria's room. Still keeping this unusual awkward silence between us since after we left the room. I didn't know what to think of it, from barely knowing this man withholding me held forever captured by him. He always baffled me to know nothing of what he is thinking. Since I couldn't read his usual blank icy expressions. So for him to actually show this weird affectionate charm towards me was strange. I didn't know what to make of it.

Once reaching the door, Cory knocked on it and we waited. Until John opens it letting Cory and me in. To enter into their living room which was beautifully decorated in black and some pink furniture. In a luxury style set up, like Çory's room, I thought. Well, minus out all the pink, so I knew Maria was the decorator here. I couldn't imagine John using the color pink. I had to hold in my giggle on that thought. All while I noted Cory give me this strange glance. But luckily, he didn't question why I had my lips pressed together.
As John closed the door, Cory said, "It's time to get ready. JJ gave me the call."
"Yeah, kinda figured it would be about time to get rolling here." In a neutral tone, John responded, "Maria will be out in a second."
Lightly nodding, Cory said between looking at him and seemingly at me. "Good, I need to show her and actually you Sally, a few pictures."
Looking at him confused, I asked. "What pictures?" Before he could answer. From the right, Maria came down the hall and gave me a huge surprising hug.
Just as we finished hugging, Cory took out his phone. Then looked at both of us quiet ladies, and said "I need you both to look at these slaves for me. You both need to tell me if you saw them at the party?"
So Maria and I checked out the three pictures on his phone while he still held it grasped to his firm palm.
Puzzled, Maria said, "The last woman." She looked at me beside her asking, "Remember her, Sally?"
Ironically enough, I did recognize the one woman. "She was serving us the drinks at the party. I thought she seemed very skittish. But she wouldn't answer any of my questions when I asked her if she was okay but she ran off." Oddly, baffled, I faced Cory asking; "Who is she?"
Taking some steps near John, Cory replied as he put his cell away, "She was scared because she's not from our Kingdom. She was from the Kingdom who attacked us. That is why those men knew your name, Sally. She was spying with these two other women, I just showed you."
"She was also frightened because she knew the attack was coming," John clarified to me and his wife. "She probably knew she was dead."
"Why would she think she'd be dead?" In an uneasy voice, I asked John.
First John looked like he was getting Cory's approval to explain. As Cory slightly nodded giving his permission.
So John said looking back my way, "Kyle's Kingdom does not treat his slaves well. Once they become useless to him, he kills his women often. Especially, if they are mortal."
Saddened, Maria said, "Those poor ladies."
In a careless tone, I caught on too, as John spoke to Maria. "They're not from our Kingdom. There isn't anything we could have done for them."
I was thrown off by his heartless diction. Sometimes John expressed himself to be such a menace man. Then Cory wasn't any better, he showed no ounce of remorse.
Meanwhile here Maria and I showed sadness. I felt pretty sickened to notice neither John nor Cory seemed to care those women lost their possible mortal life, I kinda wondered to myself. Since I didn't know if they were mortal or immortal.
Again after the awkward silence, Cory said strangely, "Well, John and I need to go to a meeting. So if you ladies need anything just holler."
Maria just weirdly nodded feeling the awkward vibe Cory was giving. "Don't be scared of any of my men around the mansion." He directed that to merely only me "Ok?"
So I only gave him a delicate gaze choosing to keep myself quiet. As John gave his wife a romantic kiss before leaving.
With a glimmering smile, Cory approach me as my body felt paralyzed, "No running away." Then he only thankfully kissed my forehead.
Both men went out of the room closing the door from behind them. As Maria and I kinda crossed eyes at each other for a second.
