~ Standing on the stairs with us. Was Nick across from Maria and Jay across from me. They stood behind the lifeless men on the staircase.
Jay shouted over the battle, "Go up the staircase you can't get out this way!"
"Watch out!" Maria screeched out!
Suddenly an attacking hybrid-man came behind Nick, stabbing a thick sword into his shoulder. Making Maria and I scream out terrified. Nick quickly turned and detained the man by stabbing him within the heart. Jay stabbed the man in his ribcage side, helping Nick. Just as this attacking man dropped lifelessly. John and three more men came running fast up the stairs.
"Take Sally and your wife! Help them climb down to get out of the castle! Nick and I will try holding the men back for as long as we can!" Jay commanded John and the three men.
John nodded then took his wife's hand and Maria took back my hand. The three other men followed from behind me. We hustled ourselves up the wide curved grand staircase.
~
Just reaching the top step from on the third-floor. The men and John notice their fallen lifeless military brothers. Mostly being from Nick's Division was up here. Using their keen eyesight and sniper guns to try taking down their enemies from afar. Blood splattered and dripped all over the third floor. By the looks of things, John and the men understood their fallen brothers from Nick's Division lost this battle from up here. From their enemies sniping them out first.
~
"Don't look around the room!" John hollered roaming us onto the floor.
Of course, being a common reaction this only caused my eyes to wander about. To see over a good handful of lifeless men scattered around the floor with sniper guns nearby them. Some even landed on tables and chairs. Having blood oozing on the tables and freshly dripping onto the flooring or chairs. Blood was even splattered on what was beautiful plastered artwork of these colorful birds on walls. Now this made me wish, I never peeked around, I thought within my head.
John and the men stopped at this large window in the center of the floor. By using two chairs from off to the side the two men broke it down. Glass shards shattered into fine crystalline particles all over the floor and outside ledge.
As Maria cried to her husband, so I dropped her hand allowing her to tightly hug him. "I can't do this John!" She said hysterically in tears, "You know I am terrified of heights! I won't make it!"
John calmed her in his arms and said. "Maria, it's ok. We will take it slow and I will get you out of here." He kissed her head side. "I will be right beside you."
Without having enough time to say anything else.
John moved Maria and me together from our upper arms. Making us step outside the window's thick stone ledge. Maria had tears running down her face and her body was shuddering horribly.
So I looked at her and said faintly smiling, "Maria, you've been strong this whole time. It's not so bad and it isn't that far."
"Yes you got this Maria, it will be ok." Replied John furthermore encouraging her. "You both need to take off your heels. Just hold onto me for balance."
Maria faintly nods and we held ourselves up by holding onto John's forearms for balance. At the same time, we both removed our high heels. After letting go of John, I leaned forward some to find good areas to put my footing onto. Once I got a good mental view from studying every edge side my eyes could spot.
"Come now, you can follow me," I said to Maria.
And started to turn myself around and climbed down in this long gown. That was torn where it flowed from the back. The light chilly breeze blew the extra silky and sheer fabric around. Like I was wearing a beautiful cape.
~~~
John and the men beside him are impressed she was able to climb fearlessly down without needing their help. After seeing Sally was good on her own. John helped his wife turn herself around to head down. Very carefully, she found her footing and begin to climb down. But her body was shaken in horrible freight. So John was about to start heading down next.
Until a man yelled standing somewhere behind John, "Watch out they got around Jay and Nick!"
In less than seconds, these six attackers came barreling in for the charge! Instantly fighting the three men, John was with. Another attacker grabbed John, throwing him back inside.
~~~
"John!" Maria cried out.
As she sees her husband get tossed back inside and hears the men fighting from above her.
Below her some, I called, "Maria, we need to go!"
Seeing that she was frozen just on the ledge crying in fear. So I had to climb back up to Maria
"It's ok Maria, I'll help," I said reaching her.
But she only nods at me so I started to help her slowly, step by step. Very slowly, we started heading down.
Maria listened to my every soft calming words as I said, "Put your feet here and slowly drop yourself down."
While Maria kept on crying but I gradually guided her down very carefully.
Before too long, I noticed we were almost down. "You are doing great, Maria." With encouragement in my voice, I said, "We are almost down!"
Still having many tears stream around her face. She managed to break a faint smile as I continued to help her. Things were going so soothingly until...
"Maria!!!"
A bullet hit where Maria's hands were at, breaking off some of the stone from the building! It happened too rapidly! I tried to grab Maria's hand but missed her hand by inches away!
"AAAAAH!!!!" Maria screeches out terrified while she plummets down!
"Maria!"
I helplessly watch Maria fall screaming the rest of the way down! Until she hit the ground so hard it inflicted her to get knocked out unconscious. Below me, she wasn't moving as my heart shriveled to nothing.
"Maria, please answer me!"
