I flew to Reeves dam and used my x-ray vision to scan the water. I spotted Kara's ship on the bottom of the dam. I dove into the water and swam to the bottom. I lifted the ship and raised it out of the water. I used the Speed Force to enter into Flash Time and flew the ship to the Fortress.
"Jor-El, this ship is Kara Zor-El's. Will you assist me with welcoming Kara to Earth and explaining the situation?" I asked.
"Kal-El, this Kryptonian is the daughter of the man who helped cause the destruction of Krypton. You cannot trust her." Jor-El stated.
"You don't have to worry about her. Kara Zor-El will become a protector of humanity called Supergirl. I've seen it in my visions. We can trust her. She will have a more difficult time adjusting to Earth than I did. She lost her planet she grew up on. I never knew Krypton. It's a different situation. Other than her adjustment issues and slightly rebellious nature, she comes to love and appreciate humanity." I said.
"Very well, Kal-El."
"Can you initiate opening her spaceship and taking her out of hibernation?" I inquired.
"Yes, Kal-El."
A light shone down onto the ship, and the ship opened. Kara's eye's began fluttering and she finally awoke. She looked around and made eye contact with me.
"Hello, Kara. My name is Kal-El. Welcome to Earth."
"What? What's happening?"
"You have been in hibernation in your ship for the last 14 years. I found your ship that was submerged in a body of water. I brought your ship here to this Fortress in order to be awoken and greeted by Jor-El." I explained.
"Uncle? If I've been here for 14 years, what's happening on Krypton?"
"Krypton was destroyed. You are among the last survivors of our planet." Jor-El answered.
"No, that can't be!"
"I'm sorry, Kara, but it's true. It might be possible for us to save some additional Kryptonians - there are crystals that contain genetic data so we can resurrect some. One of those Kryptonians is my mother Lara. Jor-El, on the blue crystal in Kara's ship is Zor-El's backup for himself and Lara. Could you first resurrect my mother so we can explain everything to her, then we can release Zor-El later after we have a difficult conversation with Kara regarding her father's actions on Krypton? She can decide what we do as he is her father, after all." I said.
"It is possible, however, very difficult. I would need to separate Lara from the crystal and tie her instead to this fortress. Only then would we be able to release Zor-El within a stasis ring that Kara might receive the answers she requires if Lara's answers are insufficient."
Crystals connected to Kara's ship and the blue crystal rose out of the ship.
"Stand by for replication of the technology."
"Thank you, father."
"Kal-El, what is it you were saying that my father did?" Kara asked.
"Zor-El knew Krypton was going to be destroyed and didn't tell you before he sent you. He wanted you to kidnap me. Then, he planned to have my mother, you, and I conquer Earth." I said.
Kara stared in shock.
A large crystal rose from the ground a few feet from where they stood and within that crystal stood Lara, her eyes closed as if asleep. The front of the crystal cracked then shattered, allowing Lara to fall forward.
I rushed forward and caught her. She blinked a few times as she took in her surroundings. "Wha- What happened? Where am I?"
"Aunt Lara," shouted Kara rushing forward when she saw Lara was awake and alive.
"Kara, what's going on?"
"You're on Earth," answered Kara.
"Earth, why? How?"
"Zor-El used your DNA to create a backup for his own purposes," answered the disembodied voice of Jor-El.
"Jor-El," she whispered, recognizing the voice. Looking around now she understood. Krypton was gone and Jor-El had gone through with his emergency plan.
Lara observed me with a confused look, "Kal-El?"
"Yes, mother."
"But you should be a baby!"
"Zor-El made a copy of you and stored it within a crystal he sent to earth with Kara-El," explained Jor-El.
"So he really did it. I knew he was jealous of you, Jor-El. But I never thought he would go so far or sink so low," said Lara angrily.
"So it's true?" asked Kara.
Lara suddenly remembered Kara was there. "Oh, honey, I'm so sorry," she then hugged Kara fiercely.
"Kara-El, do you still wish to speak with your father?" asked Jor-El.
"Yes. I need to hear it from him."
I jumped in, "Jor-El. From my understanding, you will use a stasis field to hold Zor-El. Are you able to put a further protective field that could isolate any potential signal Zor-El could send out? Even if he's in a stasis field, Zor-El is not to be underestimated."
"If you believe those measures are necessary, then yes. Once the process is complete, do not approach him for any reason," Jor-El responded.
The fortress prepared the proper countermeasures, then Zor-El emerged from the crystal in a binding light. The restriction rings that surrounded Zor-El could be activated and transport him to the Phantom Zone within seconds.
"Release me!" Zor-El exclaimed.
"Zor-El, you have violated our laws." Jor-El began.
"Jor-El, why am I bound?" Zor-El asked.
"Father," said Kara, finally catching his attention.
"Kara?" he blinked several times to look at her properly. She was older than he remembered. "Get me out of this now."
"No," said Kara firmly. "How could you do that to me and aunt Lara?"
"I did what was necessary to save our race," said Zor-El. "Now you will release me. Obey your father and do as you are told."
"You knew Krypton was going to be destroyed and didn't tell me before you sent me. You wanted to kidnap Kal-El. I want to know why? I deserve to know why?"
"Petulant child. You were sent here with one mission and you couldn't even do that. Release me now and I will not punish you too severely."
"Why did you really send me here?"
"Our planet was going to be destroyed. I sent you to collect Kal-El then bring back me and your aunt. We will conquer this planet and Krypton will live again under my rule. So, I will tell you one last time, release me or face the consequences."
"I cannot believe you father. How could you do this? The humans are a young people, but they deserve a chance. It is not for us to conquer them."
Zor-El's eyes narrowed dangerously at his daughter. "You would defy me?"
"Yes," said Kara. "The humans have accepted me, and Lara, and Kal-El as their own. I will not allow you to harm them."
"So be it," said Zor-El, clearly incensed. He then slid up his sleeve to reveal a Kryptonian bracelet bearing the mark of Zod. He slid his finger over the symbol causing it to glow in black light.
"I'm afraid that won't work, Zor-El. We've taken precaution to block any signals you could send." I explained. "Sending a message to Zod's underlings has failed."
"What!? No!" Zor-El yelled.
"Send him to the Phantom Zone," Kara said.
"For your crimes, you will be stripped of your body and banished to the Phantom Zone," said Jor-El.
"I will escape and when I do, I will kill your son and destroy this planet!" Zor-El boomed.
"That will not happen," stated Jor-El coldly. A moment later the inside of the rings was filled with a burning red light.
Zor-El screamed in pain as his spirit was stripped from flesh.
As the red light finally faded all that remained was a wraith, banging against the walls that kept him trapped. The rings collapsed in a flash of light, the only thing remaining was the diamond shaped crystal which only seconds later flew from the fortress into the sky and eventually into space.
"Kara. I'm so sorry about your father. I can't imagine how you're feeling right now." I consoled.
"Kal-El, it's fine. My father was just using me. He knew about Krypton's destruction and yet the only thing he did was try to save his own skin. Jor-El didn't make attempts to save himself. He just sent you; that is a selfless act saving his newborn child. And while I'd like to think he loved me and sent me away to save me as well. I'm not a fool. I was a tool to resurrect him and his chosen mate." Kara ranted.
"Kara-El, you have accepted the circumstances admirably," Jor-El complimented.
"Thank you, uncle." Kara said.
"Let's go to my home." I said.
