Chapter 1 - Primrose Medusa Vandran

Primrose Medusa Vandran is a seventeen-year-old teenager who enjoys hanging around street corners, listening to music, and watching tv. She is gentle and brave, but can also be very disloyal and a bit sadistic.

She is Greek and Trinidadian. Physically, Primrose is in pretty great shape and has a very fine build. She is an average height of five foot four inches, with brown cocoa skin, naturally long gray hair with added blue highlights all around her head, and dark hazel eyes paired with glasses. She's wicked smart, she skipped through high school and is nearly done with college.

In her early years, Primrose grew up in a wealthy neighborhood. Her father left when she was young, leaving her with her mother, who was her biggest supporter. Her life looked so bright and beautiful. Primrose had so many plans and ideas for her future. That changed, everything changed.

It was a couple of weeks into summer vacation. It was confirmed that Primrose was now going to be a college graduate, all by the age of seventeen, she just recently got her license, an apartment, a car, and just finished paying this year's tuition. She was doing great. She's being great. She and her mother were being great together.

Her friends somehow convinced Primrose to go to the beach, it's not like she actually hated the beach, she just didn't like the fact that sand got anywhere and everywhere.

Regardless she went to the beach and laid down on the towel she put down, she was sunbathing and watching her friends play volleyball or swim around in the water. She watched with a smile before getting up and brushing herself off slightly to walk to where the ocean crashed. She walked into the cold water until the water reached her knees and sat down in the water. She always felt at peace when she was near the water, it didn't matter what type of water it was, as long as she was near it at some point, so in order to feel more connected so she has a necklace with little jar charms with different types of water that she's collected. It's like a home away from home, without actually having a home.

She closed her dark hazel eyes behind the glass screen she had to wear in order to see. She began to go into a zone of sorts, the sound of her friends playing behind her slowly disappeared and she was only left with the sound of the waves crashing into her and the shore behind her. She heard singing, a song her mother used to sing during her stories about the sea, she felt a pull to go in further to see what was singing, she shook her head and got up, but the singing got louder and more than one voice was singing, the pull was stronger now, she turned around nonetheless, but instead of seeing her friends on the beach there was ocean all around her. No matter where she looked there was the ocean. She sat down in the water once more, now terrified of the ocean before her.

She felt herself getting dragged by an invisible force until she was pushed under the water and released. She swam to the surface moving her hair out of her face as she took deep breathes of much-needed air. The water now also looked different, before it was a clear blue mass of waves where she could clearly see the sand on the bottom, now it was dark blue so dark that she couldn't see her feet, much less the bottom. She looked around and saw something dark green floating on the surface and there were several of them across the top of the water, she went to touch one but she was pulled down by something feathery, but slimy, she tried to stay afloat but she continued to be pulled down. As she was being pulled down she saw what the dark green mysterious floating things were. Extremely large jellyfish that were glowing, a mix of pinks and yellows with an iridescent body as she continued to be dragged down further into the darkness.

Finally, she just stopped. She stopped fighting and when she stopped fighting she stopped being pulled down. Her skin started to feel warm and she looked at her limbs they were tar-black, so was the rest of her body, she swam down, the further she swam down the brighter her arms became.

Her head was pounding, every cell in her body was screaming for me to go back up, to go back and get some air in her system, and yet she persisted. But her body is screaming still, it feels as though her head might explode, she has to take a breath, so she opens her mouth to breathe and for some reason, it doesn't hurt as she expects it to. She has let go of the fear of the unknown of the darkness.

As she swam it didn't feel like she was swimming, it felt like she was falling instead, a peaceful free fall of sorts, and in this free fall into the dark abyss she falls further and further into the darkness until she felt it swallow her completely and as she prepared to close her eyes one last time she saw a pale white figure with red eyes extending it's two left hands out towards her, but she felt herself being pulled back into something. She didn't question it, she embraced it, she welcomed it, but she did stick her hand out to the pale white figure. Primrose couldn't figure it out, but she felt a connection to whatever it was, but was continuously being pulled back and further away from the pale white figure still holding out it's two left hands towards her.

She closed her eyes as she continued to be pulled, by whatever held her. She finally let go of the white figure and let herself go.
